well not quite. The website is now at its new permanent home:

http://www.langamingcentral.co.uk/~fifa

and some of the links are actually active:) I'm working on the members database atm, once it's up we can begin registrations and get started. The ladder is a private one which means you can only join by invitation only or by applying. This way I can keep control and only allow Wireplay users to join. What you'll need to do is signup as a member on the website. Then I can email you an invite to join the ladder.

Which brings me to the important stuff... Rules. Apart from the ladder rules, which can be found by clicking on the Rules link under ladder (logical or what??) we need to sort out specific rules for the game settings.

My suggestions are as follows:

Stadium... Challengers choice
Weather... Challengers choice
Time of Day... Challengers choice
Speed... Fastest
Half Length... 6
Subs... 3
Fatigue... On
Bookings... On
Offside... On
Injury... On

I'm assuming you get the same options as for the matchup service. Now teams, should both players have the same team, different teams (does the challenger choose first or the challenged), can you choose international or national teams(in which case limit the nationality or any) or any mix if using differnet teams eg: national v international?

I think we should limit teams to national teams and do away with international teams and maybe choose a team from the European comtinent as we are european, as for who has what team I think it doesn't matter if both players choose Man Utd etc because the game obviously allows 2 ManU's to play together.
I thought of the idea of each player editing a team of their choice and giving themselves a team name they can use throughout the tornament but this would cancel out the suggestion of only having national teams as one player could 'edit' Brazil' and someone else could 'edit' Bradford.
Who would have the advantage?, obviously Brazil.
What do you think?

everythings sounds good to me chas :) but Deano does have a point on the teams ;)

the only thing i dunno about is the game speed option being set to fast, i dont know what its like on 2001 yet (i'll need to try it) but if i remember rightly on the psx normal speed was the best by far IMHO

Ok so if we just say any national team, then people can choose who they like, even the same team if they want. We can always organise a night to do a knockout European/World Cupat some point.

As for editing teams, I haven't checked out the editing options yet, could be something to look at for the league, I wouldn't mind putting the Rushden & Diamonds squad in (as Brazil of course:)). I'll have a look and give it some thought and keep the comments coming guys, the more input the better.

Cheers,

Chas

Oh and about the game speed, it was one of the first settings I changed when I installed the game, I always found Fifa 99 too slow on anything else, I didn't find it too fast on 2001 either, but I'll go back and try them all out. Let me know what you think once you've tried it.

About the game speed
In my experiences the fastest setting is the best setting, this setting does not play 'super fast' but seems normal,
the game can become quite monotonous (spelling?) on the slower setting.
Just a thought

I have to agree, Itried it out earlier on normal and I found it painfully slow by comparison. I don't know if the spec of your system has any affect on this, we need a few more to comment on this. BTW I've got a Celeron 400, 160MB RAM and a Voodoo 3 2000.

I've never tried experimenting with the game speed but when i play fifa i get a fairly stable game using default options, my spec:

AMD Athlon 550
128mb RAM
32mb Riva TNT2
