Hopefully in a few years once ADSL has pulled in the revenue, these could be the NEXT services to home users that BT will offer for low cost:

The future of gaming is almost here...

---

SDSL

Symmetric DSL (SDSL) delivers a symmetric link to data networks for residential and business users. Using a single pair of copper wires, SDSL extension technology can be used to transport multiple services, such as private line, digital voice transmission, IP or frame relay. Typically, SDSL generates speeds of 2.3 Mb/s both upstream and downstream.

HDSL-2

High bit rate DSL (HDSL-2) and G.shdsl are symmetric technologies intended to replace T1/E1 lines and the older generation HDSL technology, by transporting data at rates of up to 1.5 Mb/s over a single pair of copper wires over distances of up to 12,000 feet (3,650 m).

SDSL is not designed for the Home user and has no benefit what so ever, unless you are running an popular server. Expected cost is £10,000 a year.

come on in america!
dig up our roads
we love traffic jams and copper wire cables being "accidentally" cut through!

say, what's this? copper wire technology is better than your cable trick? bit expensive don't you think?

sheez, now I wonder if the good old brits have the brains to keep their own technology costs down to circumvent cm technology for the eggheads who buy it on the cheap - america, everything that's ours is yours! we love your little island [but not as much space as ours]

hey, nice road you have there... can we dig it up just to give you this niiiice shiny cable?

copper wire, nah. nothing in it. no, cm, trust us, we know what's good for you - take it, it's virtually frikkin free

;)
