Hi all, did anyone else have problems with Openworld last night? The service seemed to go down for some time and I couldn't connect under any of the home gateways. I managed to get back on at 11:30 on Homegateway 2 but a lot of the others were still down. I looked at the Openworld site to see anything but there wasn't but I know some other Openworld users were hiccuping. Apparently someone said it was BT having problems, not just Openworld. Anyone got any ideas? :)

Mine was down from about 7 last night. Went to bed and fine again this morning :)

Mine went down last night too... Couldn't get on all night.

So I gave the support line a call and they tell me that under the term and conditions they do not offer ANY compensation for systems failure. So if the service was to stay down for a month you would still have to pay for the entire month- even tho you hadn't recieved the service!

Doesn't this worry any one else? I would have thought it would have been fair to compensate for downtime. All other ISPs that require a subscription that I have dealt with offer compensation, and I am paying way more for this!

Any thoughts?

same here - was in WP, then was not - internet was a no go too
I didn't know you could change homegateways on btopenworld either

no compensation for downtime after 1 month and having to pay that fee?
just let them try it
although the possibility of it being down that long are pretty slim [infact, couple of atoms high I would think]

I take it none of you rang the help desk, there was a recorded message that explained all. It wasn't actually Openworld causing the fault, but BT Internet.
The recording stated something along the lines of the follow. (Timed at 21:10)

We are attempting to rectify two faults at this time, the first is that customers using a BT Internet logon cannot access the service, the second is that while custommers with a BT Internet logon can connect, they are unable to access web pages or receive mail.

Sound like the problems you all got, 'cos it summed mine up to a T. No logon, or connected and a dumb net.
BTW I checked again this morning and message had changed (at around 8am) to one saying that they were experiencing an Openworld problem. Seems ok now tho. (Thumps wood and crosses limbs, eyes and fingers)

"we" didn't ring the help desk because "we" ain't stupid - pretty obvious BT were having problems

:D

my question about selecting HG servers still stand - and in this case, I am stupid because I don't understand how you can access/switch to them without having an account authentication on them

I haven't tried because I'm not home yet

I couldn't get through either, but mine's a different story. Check this out.

I rang the support line, and they said my account had been disabled due to a late payment (credit card prob). So I rang customer services who enabled my account again. When I asked them why they didn't contact me to say my account was gonna be disabled, they said they did as they sent me an email!! There then ensued an argument about how I was supposed to recieve this email when my account had been disabled. They're all mad there.

Yeah, sorry about that but all the posts above mine seemed to think openworld was the root of the trouble.
Checked with a squad m8 who was on the openworld trial and she didnt have any connection trouble, why?. She was given a btclick login and not a btinternet login.
