Seem to have a drop in fps in a non complicated aprt of the map and wondered what might be effecting it..
No vertex or carving. r_sppeds are between 250 and 350 but still get drop.
Not sure its not me video card going tits up though...
Ideas on a postcard please....

Probably your e_polys then (from entities)
Do you have loads of crates/monsters/weapons etc. around?

Don't spose you are looking at a door or N e thing, something that doesnt obstruct FOV from the engine's perspective?
Is that with full vis?

No doors, actually its buggin the life outa me, cause it one solid large texture that you look at. Not a fun_wall or anthing around it...
There is another area that does this but to a lesser extent...
Ive probably done something really daft, but still not sure its not my V3, happens on some servers aswell, drops to 12 fps from 66 which is normal for me. Even when I run ,aps in Lan.

I got something similar once, turned out that it was a large expanse of water on the other side of the map (it always slowed down when you looked in that direction), even though the polys stayed the same.

erm, i have water all over the place being a map about venice :P Hope its not that :)

erm, whats the size of your textures? cus hl engine makes a cube for each texture. So a wall with 200 texture cubes on it is 200 walls.
