What the heck did you start in the other thread..

it looks like you sparked something m8..

Next thing we will have the new squads, the pilgrims, the lions, the unclean, etc etc etc..

:) phew, I bet you didn't expect that lot when you posted it eh?

In fact question time boyz and girlz, if someone enters an arena with B*sta*d as a name, we know what to do, but hwat if the name st peter or harri chrishna appears, what and who decides whats 'clean and acceptable?'

i am sure you know where I am leading, this isnt an obvious one like shi* head or c*nt but could be taken to be more insulting, son of g*d, or h*ly M*ther, or J*sus as a name could be just as insulting and offensive..

Do we need to include all religions in this, and whilst common sense tells us when x name is wrong, can and are we expected to be aware of all possible wrong names, how about a list somewhere of unallowable names, so we can say if it aint on tis list ... then its ok.. (there are lots of indian names i cant even pronounce tbh, but i am sure someone would egt upset if they saw their god being taken the P out of..)

Well, Jesus is actually the name of thousands of people in the world today, so I don't think we could ban it. It's extremely popular in S America.

With regard to other religious names...well, just using them is not necessarily offensive. Should we ban St Peter?
:)

I think its down to discretion as to how it has been used, and whether or not anyone complains.

Again, personal opinion, and no relevance to the demon worshipping cat next door but two to me.

lol,

no i didnt! I know religion is a dodgy topic, so it normally evokes a lot of emotion, but not like in the thread atm!

Glad its all be taken with good humour and everyones remained sensible about it :)

I suppose the name depends on its context, and how the player acts with a certain religious name :/

ask an admin :)

I think all threads on religion I've ever seen anywhere have been huge and generally full of argument.

Despite my choice of player name, I have absolutely no religous beliefs whatsoever and tend to steer clear of any threads on the topic.

It's a good point Zhar & one I never thought about until I saw a post by (I think) Paulfidtz on the subject (sorry m8 if it wasn't you). Since then I have generally used another name when playing to avoid upsetting anyone.

Like St Peter I have no religous beliefs at all, I chose the name as it is a nickname I have been called in real life for the past 17-18 years.

This topic was on the general forum a while back the point I made on that thread was if you ban names like St Peter, Jesus etc you have to also ban any satanic "esk" names.
