Quite recently there's been something of an outbreak of Spamitis.

Now I know there was an outbreak of nearly epidemic proportions around Oct-Nov-Dec last year (including one biiiiig resurgence over the holiday season) but it's been kept fairly controlled for a good few weeks now.

Medical sources have pinpointed the recent outbreak as being caused by the arrival of some new people in the forum, touting little more than a desire to use smilies innapropriatly and a bizarre need to post short, irrelevant sentances.

Now in order to keep this disease from spreading to the local population we're making efforts to remove any and all evidence of the disease.

We'd like to ask those people responsible for bringing this awful disease back among us to think carefully about what is sat in the white box before they click on 'submit'.

The results of poorly considered posting can be deleted posts, closed threads, reset post counts (this has been known to kill spamitis sufferers) and in extreme cases account-closure.

So listen, lets be careful out there people.

Spam would be, for example, single smilie posts.

Another example (and particularly annoying as they can lead threads off-topic) would be a post that appears totally random and has no relevance to the thread it's in. There are several examples in recent threads :|

Posting lots is not considered spam (if it was, I wouldn't have been granted Mod-ship by Velvet). To pinch a quote from Sar's signature - "I don't spam, I just post lots." Thats not (so much) of a problem. As long as they aren't made up of single smilies posts, random rubbish or the word 'rofl'.

I think that covers it all. Mister666 and Communal_Toilet are back tomorrow, I dare say they'll fill any gaps I've left.
