irc room

CHAS, do you have an irc room? If not then as your running a ladder, irc is a much easier plaace to meet up to arrange games, or to act as a meeting place before games.

Just nudge velv or oppy in any of the wp rooms to sort out the bots for it. Calling it sommet like #wpfifa is prolly a safe bet.

Yer, you're right. It's something on my list to do, I've got a Java IRC applet to go on the site (hence the chat button) with the intention of getting a room sorted. As you say it's going to be a lot easier if we've got somewhere to meet to sort out games.

Actually a re-think.

I take it that the FIFA community isnt going to be like the Quake 3, UT and CS ones, etc. So maybe just a #wpsport is more economical, and easier to keep a bit more full?

Or use the new java chat thingy that's now on the site. Just click on chat and it'll do everything for you - except make your dinner, pour a drink, play the game, go to work/school for you... ok it doesn't do that much except connect you directly to the chatroom without having to download and configure any software.

Anyone thats not used mIRC then heres a quick guide to using it.

1. Download the mIRC application from www.mirc.com - nb mIRC can be found on most cover cd's of games magazines.
2. Run the appplication
3. Go to the File Menu
4. Click Options...
5. Click the connect button in the catagories menu.
6. Click Add (on the right hand side of the screen)
7. In the despriptions box put Gameplay
8. In the irc server box put irc.gameplay.com
9. In the ports box put 6667
10. Leave all other boxes blank, and click add
11. Click the "connect to irc server button"
12. You will see a load of stuff flash past in the status screen.
13. When this is done, at the command line, type in


/join #wireplay

14. This will bring you to the main wireplay room. Untill a Sports room is set up, i suggest this as a good room to meet/arrange matches.

Cheers guys, just downloaded version 5.82, it'll take me some time to get used to all the maladjusted stuff what goes on :) but one question is!, when on the wireplay irc how do i join other rooms in the wireplay community?

Most wireplay/gameplay rooms are just #wpxxx. For example. The Quake3 3 Community can be found in #wpq3 and Unreal Toureny community in #WPUT etc.

Just type in /join #wpxxx (xxx bing the game name)

Not all games have their own rooms though.

Any problems, then just ask in #wireplay and someone is bound to help you.
