New MUD

Have any of you tried out the new MUD that is in the February issue of White Dwarf.

I'm already a member, and for a MUD this is actually kind of good.

If anywone else from the foum is going to join then maybe we should make up a group of some kind.

is that the wolfenburg mud? that featured in the weekly email? if it is i have register but haven't done anything except go to a shop and try to buy boots(nad failed as i got confused by the comands a bit) anyway i am just annoyed that you are forced to be a "goodie" i was looking forward to running around singing the praises of khorne but instead i have to settle for an imperial outrider(and maybe some kind of dwarf).

Yeah that the one, the only problem is that it costs £10 per month a little step, I think that if enough players join then maybe a petition should go round to try and lower the price to maybe a £5 since that is what most other MUD's are.

Anyway thoughts are always welcome.

The wolfenburg site doesn't have any mention of money being involved and i signed up for free may i'm just missing something(but shudders at haveing to pay for a text based MUD) the site i went to is http://www.wolfenburg.com

As far as I've been made aware, the MUD is free until February 1st 2001. After that u have to pay £10 per month.

I might be though that you get 1 free month before you have to start paying.

That might be it as they do say that they will be reseting it and wiping all the accounts before it goes live in feb.

Tried the game, got a sword started wandering arund blundered into a party of higher level warriors with meh brettonian knight. Gave up, went ot play Asheron's Call.

Seiously though, MUD's are free now, and yet they want us to pay more than what microsoft is asking for a poorer quality item? I mean AC (microsoft) has grpahics, sound, constant updates, good interface compared to Wolfenburg (GW) expenisve (cost about £4 more a month than AC), fewer updates, unwieldly command system, no real graphics...

I know GW wants to make a profit (hence the reason why regiments + battleforces are going up to £15 and (£40?) respectively) I guess they are spending it on bloodquest and other games but lets face it gorkamorka the game has rubbish graphics and from what I've seen (in the demo) very little replayability and few levels. In fact the only game the GW seem to have been successfully affiliated with was Dark Omens. Even the latest 40k core attempt is utter rubbish (chainsaw warrior, being developed by the people who made wolfenburg).

OK.. rant over... pls dont flame me/hate me tooooo much
