I have NAV 2000 installed and updated, my problem is that i want to install it on another computer now. How can I save my updated virus definitions and transfer them to the new computer so I dont have to spend 2 hrs plus d/loading them all over again? Any1 help ? thx in advance.

Hmmm dunno and probably best asked on the appropriate Symantec (http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/) support page but when I rebuilt my mates PC last weekend we installed Norton System works which includes NAV and it didn't spend too long downloading stuff on his modem so I suspect all you need is the latest update for it and thats it, you don't need all the updates in between.

The latest virus definition includes all previous updates aswell so all you need is the latest update. Just install Norton Anti Virus and bung on the latest update. :)

Your biggest worry really is ensuring that your scanning engine is updated as well and that's the biggest one. I don't know how Norton do it, but for McAfee a new engine is release roughly every 3 month due to the latest method a virus infect such as HTTP, message body scanning etc etc.

Virus DAT files are easy to copy though...

If there is an option within Norton antivirus that allow you to copy DAT files from a local store or a network store, you can network the two PC,point the 2nd PC to the 1st one and tell Norton to look in the directory of your antivirus and it'll nab all the files it need.

I'm thinking from a McAfee point of view though as it's how we do it. Not sure about Norton.

i've got the 2001 version and the files are stored in here

The downloads aren't that massive.

My folder with updates for a year is only 12 meg.

id just do it and leave it running.
