So which one? I have between £160 and £210. the cheapest 19inch I have seen is at P.C world for £200, does any one know if it is any good? Or should i go for the flat 17inch, which would probably be better quallity.

I would use it for gaming, the internet and doing my homework. in that order.

Well 'chub' considering the amount of pornography you view on the net, the last thing you want is a crap monitor.

You say you've seen a flat screen for £210??? which one?
The Mitsubishi Pro710 is close to that range, and it's a decent monitor....If you've got the bucks, buy the MitsuPro 720 instead at around £260.

Understand this...a Decent 17" is a whole lot better then a cheap 19". For a 19" the minimum you should expect to pay is £350, anything less and it's too cheap to be any good.

P.S. does mommy know what you use the internet for >*<

Quit harrasing the man Ghost :)
Like he says though, given the choice between a good 17" and an el cheapo 19" I'd take the 17" any day. It's worth spending as much money as you can on a quality monitor as you can normally keep it 5 years+ and use it as your system upgrades. I bought my Nokia 19" for about £450 about two and a half years a go and still as good as they day I bought it (touch wood) :E

On the flat 17inch monitors, dont you get two faint horizontal lines on the screen. And are they all the same in the way its like u are looking through a window at the screen. i.e the actual picture seams a long way from the actual glass. hard to explane that one!

ahh... when you said "flat screen" I thought you meant a non-CRT monitor, and I would have said stay away from that.

If you mean a "flat screen" as in Trinitron/Diamondtron stylee (hence reference to faint lines) then I say YES. The quality of image on them things is wonderful, and you soon stop noticing the faint lines. I had one for a while (got taken away again ;( ) and it was a loverly crisp, bright piccy. My DVD's looked especially nice :)

And generally, what the others says is so... get a good 17" rather than a poor 19".

"Quality is everything, size is nothing..."
"Never mind the width, feel the quality..."
"It's not what you got but what you do with it..."

or saaaaaing :naughty:

Chub hang about for a month or so, the next issue of PC Pro (or PC???? soo many I lose track!) will have a review on monitors. This'll give you an idea of what to buy.

Also, visit PC Pro's website...they've already got loads of monitor reviews.

Personally, I'm waiting for their latest review...need a monitor too...but for 'respectable' activities...not evil stuff!!!
