I have been reading your 3dmark scores and I'am not getting the same performance as some others with similar spec PC's.

I have tried using Det 6.30, 6.50 & 7.17 updated to latest 4 in 1 Via drivers. Can anyone help me tweak this setup to over 7000.

Just thought... we all keep quoting these 3DMark scores and our hardware... but what resolution do we run the test at? If we are gunna compare like with like we need to know if they were all done at 1024x768 in 32Bit colour, or whatever. Am I wrong?

Spot on Custodian. Everyone keeps boasting/complaining about thier 3DMark score but no one says what res they are testing at. The default test is 1024x768 16. I assume most people are testing at the default but they should say if thier not. As a test at 800x600 16 can give upto 2,000 more points than the default.

Thats bad indeed for your world destrying setup there :)
I get 7100 marks on an 866 P3, Geforce 64Mb GTS and 384Mb of 133Ram. Your marks are fine for any game but its a little worrying that u aint into the 7000s.
Things to improve your marks: Over clock your cpu (easily done in the K7s soft menu 3 BIOS (if u know how to do this then fine, if not ask before u do anything), overclock your graphics card(again easily done), try DX 7a as directx8 is meant to give worse 3d marks (supposedly), check your AGP apeture size is at least 64Mb and finally check for driver conflict and over used IRQ numbers. I'm sure there is more but thats all for now.

Did you install 4in 1's beforce graphics card drivers?

Yes I have tried everything I can think of. I downloaded the 4in1428a drivers, coolbits overclocking dohickey pulled all my cards out but the gcard, reinstalled windows ME & tried going back to 98se. I get some speed increase with the cards gone and for some strange reason I get better results with 256 than 512 but I'am still well below 7000.

Score is 6600 at best. Benchmarked at 1024x768:32bit colour
Win 98 and 2k (dual boot)
Tried all drivers (dets not much change)

I think we have our selves some duff cards.

Don't think so Nick Fury. That's a stonking result for 32-bit colour at that resolution. The most common result is the defaul one which is 16-bit colour. Try that and you'll see you aren't that bad.

About my problem I fixed it I just had to play around in the bios and got a nice score of 7645.

Mainly played around with the memory settings

changed cas latency to 2 instead of 3
put all my mem settings to turbo
enabled agp fast write and read and just played around.
I changed 1 thing in the bios, ran 3dmark if I got a faster score I kept the change & just kept playing around.

right when i 1st upgraded my comp,it was b4 i upgraded one of those crappy tiny computers,my comp ran fine,6700 in default 3dmark.Anyway after a while i started having probs,and i still do.When i run 3dmark the helicopter tests even at low detail,repeatdly freezes,framerate drops etc.I helped the prob a bit buy enabling dma for my HH,but the prob still happens.

I now get scores of 6000 ish,although this varies,every time i run 3d mark.Also when i get this slowdown,my HH drive starts going mental,when it doesnt flicker it runs smooth.

Also this has affected my games,which seem to be jerky at times.In Q3 time demo at 800x600 16 bit,high quality,all extra options off-i get around 114 fps,and i have seen lots of posts from ppl running on comps not as good as mine,and yet they say that there framerates r a lot higher(i know i shouldnt believe everything i read:))

Iam using only the agp driver from the 425a 4in1 drivers,if i try using any of the other drivers,miniport for example,my comp will reset itself,or i get that tape detection crash.

I use Directx 7a,but the drivers for my card r older drivers 522s,as i tried a few of the 600 series of drivers,and they seemed to make things worse:(

So can any1 help me with this,i have tried all the various bios settings etc,repeated formats,but no joy.Can any1 suggest drivers for my gforce.Sorry for the long post,but i have posted about this on every forum i could find in the past,and no1 has been able to help.Cheers,

PS-my cpu is cooled adequately,and also my cpu score in 3d mark is around 463,is this good or bad?

Sounds like you have findfast from Microsoft's office installed. Remove this application and you will find it all run's fine again.

I'm only gettin 6005 in win2000.... I used to get 6651 on Win98 and with 128mb ram :(

Is there a page somewhere with a detailed look at how the KT7(a) individual BIOS settings improve your performance, or a set of recommended settings for GeForce2 cards?

I thought i'd turned all the high performance stuff on like AGP 4x, Cas2, Ram clock CPU+PCI (133), Fast Write etc...


Not like its gonna make that much of a difference in games, but I like to get full performance out of things :)
