And already over 400 signed up to attend this mother of all LAN parties. There are 610 places available at this event, being held in the luxurious Newbury Racecourse conference facility over 30th March - 1st April. This is by far and away the largest number we've had signed up 8 weeks ahead of an event, so it's looking extremely popular, and all this before we start our usual p1mping :). If we continue to be overwhelmed with signups, we *may* up the limit by 100 places or so.

Most of you will already have heard of the i-series events, but for those who haven't here's the deal. You bring yourself and your PC along to connect up to a huge LAN with hundreds of like-minded gamers, and then play lag free all weekend, all day and all night if you can stay awake :). Our network is 10/100 MEGAbit switched throughout, some 1000 times faster than a 56k modem!

BLAM covered our i5 event back in the summer, which was held at the same venue. Their video review (Windows Media 7 Format) can be downloaded here (ftp://ftp.gameplay.com/pub/downloads/movies/blam/B7_HARDCORE.wmv) if you want to get a feel for the action.

With places going fast, head over to http://www.multiplay.co.uk/i-series/ asap and signup! There's also a load more information on the site about the event.

See you there! 'Tis gonna rock! :D

Well we're chaffing Microsoft atm to get the server code out of them. Failing that Allegiance will be the only game at the event that everyone MUST sit in the same area for if they're even remotely thinking about playing it over the weekend. The highly restrictive single subnet effectively limits us to an area of 253 PCs, which will actually work out less than that coz we have to build in redundancy with our DHCP leases. We're hoping for a breakthrough with Microsoft tho.

Glad to hear you're on MS's case regarding the server. If things dont work out though u may want to mention the seating restriction in the news letter ;)

cheers,
oyst.

Don't worry if we don't get anywhere with MS we'll be making it very much public knowledge where the problem lies and what the only solition is (to be seated within certain areas and within a certain IP range). :E
