OK, lets start with the 'not funny' part - I wrote out this message and pressed post. It was a big message! Meanwhile, I clicked on the other open browser window, which was open at another thread - I read a thread and after finsihing I wrote a reply and posted send - funnily enough, due to the super speedy and utterly reliable servers that these feckin forums are on, they both posted at the same time and my previous message was blocked - of course, when you click back, the message has disappeared
Anyway, to lighten the mood, here's a funny story. I got my memory delivered promptly from Crucial. Set about installing it, thinking 'This won't be a problem, after all, I installed my CD-RW without a hitch'. Anyway, after opening the case I realised what a mess it was - a mass of cables everywhere. I really had to fight my way to the memory slots to install the memory. Once I had finsihed, I put the case back on and plugged my various bits and pieces in the back and switched my computer on. 'Glorious' I thought as I watched the memory checker count up to 192Mb! Until, half way through boot up my PC decided to switch itself off... not good was one thought going through my head, the other I can't mention while kiddies might be reading this! ;) Anyway, I unplugged everything, took the case back off and looked for any obvious problems. On not spotting any obvious problems, I decided to unplug absolutely everything and then plug it all back in again (Yes, I don't know what was going through my head). After finally completing this task I began to put the case back on (my friend came in at this point and I brought him up to date with what was happening!) Anyway, I pressed the power button and hoped for the best... only this time to be confronted with nothing - no response no nothing. More unmentionable thoughts were going through my head... I also thought that the motherboard could be damaged, I might have fried the processor or my power supply could have blown. When I finally realised what was wrong I didn't know whether to laugh or cry - I realised, that due to my moving the PC the plug had come loose from the socket! DOH! My friend proceeded to rip the absolute p**s out of me. A situation that definitely calls for two smilies - :E
Anyway, on to the more serious matter. This is what I bought from Crucial :
128Mb 133Mhz 168 pinn SDRAM (CAS2 I think)
And this is what I already had :
64Mb 133Mhz 168 pinn SDRAM (don't know about CAS stuff for this)
Anyway, I ran some benchmarks before the upgrade and after - to my suprise, some of the benchmarks had actually gone down... others went up as well. Any ideas? (Oh, if its useful, I was using ZD WinBench 99)

Pop out your original 64mb memory and redo the benchmarks. If you get higher results then you might be mixing memory types(or brands) and that doesnt always give the best performance.

Dunno bout the memory thing and I've done the power hanging out the wall socket before but I think they turned on the anti spam utility last night which prevents you posting within 10seconds of your last post, most annoying

Yeah, think it was the anit-spam measures :( Anyway, I will try the benchmarks again without the 64Mb and see what happens. Cheers.
