I've got a Hitachi GD7500 (i think) DVD ROM, and a Matrox Millennium G400 Dualhead.

When playing DVD's using any player they come out perfectly on the screen, but every few minutes it goes jolty on the tv (composite-scart connection). I've tried adding a lot more RAM but it still does the same thing :{

Mostly I use powerdvd 3, and set the dualhead output to DVDMAX (which plays dvd's full screen on the tv instead of showing my desktop).

Any suggestions?

could be a driver problem (i use a pioneer 103sz and a geforce 2mx with tv-out).
Also check the settings your video card driver is using (make sure it is UK-pal output), and if it is set to "S-video" and has the option try "composite" and vice versa.

I have the same card Starmonkey and playback is superb.
Make sure you have the DMA box checked in your DVD-ROM drive properties through device manager,if your drive supports it that is.Most of werewolf_bites points could do it, the pal thing usualy only shows up during slow pans.
I still use the cinemaster player that came with the card, works great for me.Try DVD Genie to it's a great program and has presets to optimize playback on your G400.
Disable any anti-virus programs and anything else you can that may be running in the background.

I had a look at the Matrox forums and there seems to be loads of people with the same problem :{

BOZZDUDE, do you use DVDMax or clone for the dual head?

I downloaded the latest drivers, and tried fiddling with the settings (composite/s-video, NTSC, PAL etc..) but it still does the same thing.

I use DVDMAX m8.I have the bottom two boxes checked in DVDMAX options also if that helps, can't remember what there called.
Have you tried the DMA thing, that stopped mine stutering after a reformat.
Also DVD Genie seems to set a lot of stuff their are no options for in the display properties.
