Can't be hacked from the remote I'm afraid. The only solution is to get it modded by a specialist.
My recommendation would be http://www.upgradeheaven.co.uk

If you go to http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk there is a special offer link for upgrade heaven which enables you to get it modded for 50 quid. :)
HTH.
£50 is way too much, i recently visited http://www.techtronics.com and they upgrade for about £20 and have your machine returned within a week
PS, i know its a little late but he shouldnt have bought a Sony, they are a bugger to upgrade, and thats all Sony models.

Make that £85 from techtronic just for the DIY option! Add between £75/126 for fitting....Can't see where you got the £20 from m8?
I've have a problem with Techtronics though. They're still offering a chip conversion for my player the Samsung 709. This despite the fact it's been hackable with a handset from just about day 1.... The only people who're liable to pay for the chip conversion are those who don't know any better, just the same sort of people who should be given "useful" advice by companies like Techtronics. Unless of course they only have one thing in mind......

Techtronics have got such a bad rep for customer service, that even though I bought my player from then with no problem, I wouldn't trust them to chip my potatoes. :D
Kev2000 - 20 quid was probably the delivery charge. :| And there is nothing wrong with my Sony player.
Sorry for the mis-information there, though I can't imagine where I got that figure from (I should've re-checked before submitting). Anyway, I can only say what I said before about Sony players due to the info I was given by a friend who works in Dixons, and what I meant was, although I should've been more specific in saying, that most Sony DVD players are complicated/hard to unlock for Multi-region, there is nothing wrong with the quality of these players as most I have seen have been excellent sound/vision-wise.
Anyway, must be off, movies to watch and all that :)
