i am trying to run DVD's on my PC, the DVD came with something called winDVD which will only play 5 minutes before demanding that you pay for the software.

so does anyone know where i can download some free software so i can finaly watch my alien legacy DVD's on my PC.

i think windows 98/98se and above have a DVD player hidden in the CAB files (hard to find)

Or you can get PowerDVD for about £7 from one of the online retailers.
Scan i think have it listed with their DVD stuff for about £6.95, but i get the impression if you try and order it wyou'll be told that it's only that price when ordering a DVD drive or something.

Othwise check your Driver disk for your Soundcard/Video card a lot of them now come with DVD playback software.

my sb live came with play center but when i try to run a a dvd on it it says its missing a dll file. If anyone know where this dvd play is in the cab file then it would save me some searching.

does it say which dll?
if so go to yahoo or another search engine and enter the dll's name in and do a search (if you find it copy it to you windows system directory).
Or post it here and i will probably be able to send you a copy of it :)
Alternatively check the Creative Labs tech support area on their site, they may well have it as a known problem and have the location of a replacement dll listed :)

CyberfisH sounds like you've got the demo verison of WinDVD.

I tried looking for a free DVD player a few months ago but couldn't find one.

I eventually went for WinDVD 2.3 which was only about £20. You order online and then download a patch which you apply to the demo. This unlocks the full version.

LOL
Nice try Big_A.
If you have genuinely lost it you would be able to go to the site and get another one for free, I know I did the same when my first one didn't work (corrupted somehow on d/l).

I was also looking for free DVD software a little while back, and couldn't find any. The only "free" ones are those that come bundled with stuff (which for some reason Creative don't do with their GF2GTS in Europe but do in Asia :{ )

have I posted this useful link in here before ? http://www.inmatrix.com

COULD YOU EMAIL THE WINDVD PATCH AS I LOST MINE

I'M SORRY I'M UNABLE TO DO THAT. IT WOULD BE A BREACH OF THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS I AGREED TO WHEN BUYING THE SOFTWARE.

if you have windows 98 SE or windows ME then go into your
C:\windows\system\playdvd.exe it is the windows build-in dvd player, it is justa s good as PowerDVD or WinDVD etc.
