Help- can't make it work

OK. i start the game and it says connecting to other players and the it pauses for ages ( ive waited 20 mins before) and then i have to restart the computer.
I have the patches.
Anyone help me

You'll have to give more details than this if you really want help, friend.

1) What game is it (BG1? BG2? Icewind?)
2) How are you trying to setup the game (direct IP connect? Wireplay software? LAN?)
3) This IS a multiplayer game you're having problems with, right?

yup, provide more info, or re-install the game (preferably a full install) :D

No, I was just thinking he might get such problems if he was using the wrong protocol while trying to play a multi game with himself (creating all 6 characters in his party).
