View Full Version : White NOT Black?
Hey, just read on a PCG forum people talking about buying the "White" or "Black" version of Black and White. I'd like to know if what they were discussing was true - that the game will be sold under a "Black" cover and also under a "White" cover. The "White" version will cost £5 more, the money its claimed will go to charity. Anyone can confirm this?
If it is true, it's quite a cheap ploy by Lionhead, it must be said (though so much respect goes out to their forthcoming beauty). But I mean, manipulating people via their conscience like that? If we don't spend £5 more, we'll be reminded what uncharitable, evil human beings we are every time we play the game, a black box grinning up at us. If we spend £5 more, we'll see a white box, praising us for what delicate, angelic creatures we all are. Surely such a commerce tactic should be banned?

I think that's the whole point.
Anyway, sod paying the extra fiver give me the Black box. I can live with my conscience. :D
Or can I?
I think it's a great idea, and I'll be getting the white box. It's only £5 fgs! :)

And thus, Sar proves my point. After hearing what each box represents, he instantly decides he'll spend £5 more just for a different coloured box ffs? So, I return to my original question - surely such a commerce tactic should be banned when there's such easily led-astray folk like Sar about?
P.S. Sar, that's a ridiculous number of posts - you MUST get out more, fresh air is good for you :P
This idea was dropped along time ago I think.
That's the best news I've heard all day (I lead a dull life) :)
But surely the £5 would go to a charity and not to Lionhead?
Yes but who's to say that the company you buy the game from doesn't pocket the £5? After all, the "White" version doesn't cost more to make. :|
Anyways, this is all hypothetical as it appears that rumour was dismissed a while ago (as lennon pointed out). Every shop I've checked shows the same black box with both the "good" and "evil" symbols on the front so it happily, seems we'll just get the one normal version. Glad Lionhead didn't resort to such cheap sales tactics in the end - the game doesn't need it by any means. :)

Actually read what I wrote: If it had gone ahead, I would have gotten the white box because of the £5 charity donation, not because of the colour of the box ffs.
And it's hardly a commercial tactic if Lionhead weren't gonna profit from it in any way shape or form.
And how the hell would it have increased sales in any way by selling 2 versions of the game - one £5 dearer than the other? Think people would buy both to "complete the set"?
Think.

Leave me alone, it's my birthday today! :P
Besides, I'd rather not get into a row with someone who's posted 8500 times - I'd be here all month.
