Anyways.. wtf am I going on aobut: here's what you want to read:

---------------

"Evil, meet sword, SWORD! MEET EEEEVVIIIIIILLLLL!!!!!"
Minsc's berserker cry died on his lips. In front of Mallar, Irenicus was changing, mutating, becoming... becoming...
"MINSC! LOOK OUT!" came Keldorn’s cry, the Knight of the Radiant Heart's magical sword slicing through the air above the now prone warrior of Rasheman, arcing towards a horrific leg protruding from a swirling vortex, causing a beastal cry to emanate from the portal. As he regained his footings Minsc could see more vortexes, more demons, a small horde of the most powerful demons he had ever heard of. All racing towards the small party of adventurers.
To his left, Aerie and Imoen were busy summoning creatures of their own while, to his right, Keldorn was swiping valiantly at monstrous appendages that reached for him, the halfling woman, Mazzy at his side, wielding a blade that was a gift from her god. Scant metres in front of him Minsc could see Mallar, halberd in hand, fending off the attacks of three identical demons, and yet Minsc recognised the demons, they were doubles of the monster that Mallar could become, and yet, moments ago Mallar had been fighting Irenicus. Too confused to make sense of the moment Minsc brought up his own swords, both lighter than Keldorn's, designed for use in one hand the each glowed, one with fire one with the silvery shine of magically sharpened steel, and charged towards the largest demon he could see.

With a screech, a flick of the fingers and the tossing of powder Imoen completed her incantation. Summoning forth a wyvern to aid her friends in the battle against the monstrosities, she began the incantation of a second spell, one of the simplest spells she knew and yet one of the most deadly, within seconds five shimmering orbs, pulsating with power, were levitating in front of her, waiting for her command to attack and drive themselves into the heart of her foes.
And yet the orbs did not get a chance to so much as fly towards a target as Imoen lost control of her spell and was flung across the platform that was their battlefield, the orbs vanishing in a flash. She careened into a statue and lay there, battered and bleeding, with gigantic gouges in her side where a demons claw had sliced through her.
She began fumbled for a vial of thick blue liquid that she knew would ease her pain, but was surprised to find that she couldn’t move her left arm to uncork the vial. As her eyes began to close and she began to see nothing but darkness she suddenly felt warm.

Aerie's brow was knotted with concentration as she stood over the battered body of the sister of her love, the whisperings of a priestly spell upon her lips, slowly releasing life back into the newly repaired body of Imoen. As Imoen stumbled to her feet and began to scramble for new components to renew her magical assault on the demons Aerie turned and with a single word of power released a bolt of holy energy from her raised fingertips, obliterating one of the larger horrors.
She had been fighting for less than half a minute and already she was running out of spells to cast, and already the valiant warriors Keldorn and Minsc were falling back towards her with freely bleeding wounds, vainly fending off the attacks of the largest monster she had ever seen, something that she thought was only a myth, something even the Avariel had known of but dismissed and stories used to frighten children.
The many limbed lord of the pit was swiping ferociously at her protector who could barely raise a blade to defend himself, let alone land a blow with either of his swords, whilst Keldorn had to attack as his heavier blade was no use in fending off the lightning fast attacks of the monstrosity, despite his backwards pace.
Of Mazzy there was no sign.
She sighed, and began to use what little magical energies she could summon to invigorate the warriors and slow the beast. As she began to cast the spells required to close the warrior’s wounds she felt something throw itself against her, sending her into a sprawling roll.
She sprang up, pulling out a mace with skill that the months of following Mallar had honed. Standing in front of her was a hunched demon with wings, its red scaly skin glistening with blood and its eyes aflame with hatred. It lunged at her, sharp fangs gleaming and covered in saliva, clawed arms extended ready to tear her asunder, and yet she was fast enough to bring the mace up into an attack and crush the beasts’ skull. The body flew past here, twitching still.

"Bhaal's balls!" thought Keldorn, as he made Tyr's holy symbol with his left hand to ward the evil that invoking the name of a dark god would summon. "How many of the creatures of chaos are there?!"
Only half of the demons were dead, and yet he was more tired than he had ever been in his life, he could hear his bones creaking over the screeches of his armour as it tried to hold to the Paladins body whilst maintaining its shape.
The giant demon in front of Keldorn suddenly stopped attacking him for a moment, to turn all of its attention upon the Rasheman warrior that Keldorn stood shoulder to shoulder with, launching all four of its clawed fists straight at the warrior in the worst attempt at punching that Keldorn had ever seen.
Despite the lack of skill the sheer force and ferocity of the attack sent the giant ranger flying.
As Minsc came to a halt against a pile of rocks Keldorn's holy blade bit deeply into the torso of the monster, its avenging energies pulsating and enveloping the beast, causing it to scream in its death throes.
He stumbled and almost fell, using his blade to prop himself up Keldorn could make out the small figure of Mazzy, the halfling knight, frenziedly assaulting yet another creature of the darkness, with vigour he had never seen in a human, let alone a halfling.

Mazzy thrust her blade forwards, into the breast of a demon, the short weapon easily penetrating its thick hide and sinking deeply into the sinews of the beast, causing it to cry out as it fell backwards, flailing its arms as it died. Her gift from Avoreen now buried in the chest of the demon she had no choice but to tear her halberd from her back, a momentum of her adventures against the shades near the Umar Hills. The lightweight straps that held it to her were torn with ease as she drew the weapon and blocked the attack of yet another demon with the blunt end of the weapon before swinging it in an arc to cleanly remove the head of the monster.
She advanced but was tiring fast, she knew her assault would only buy her friends mere seconds but was willing to give her life for the cause.
Something caught her leg and began coiling around it, sending stabbing pains throughout her body, pulling her down.
She hit the ground and felt something leap upon her. She knew her time was up.

Minsc once again launched himself at the darkness, a fresh battle cry upon his lips, his anger now brought forth by the untimely death of the halfling woman.
"MINSC CAN NOT LET SUCH AN EVIL DEED GO UNPUNISHED!"
One blade embedded itself in the demons back; his other sliced through the air and removed the outstretched arm of yet another foul creature. He spun on his heel and delivered a punch to the last demon, smashing its jaw with his berserker strength.
Just to add insult to injury he kicked the demons face a few times.
"Boot heels of justice!" he cried.

Mazzy coughed blood and clambered from under the corpse of the demon just in time to see Mallar send one of Irenicus' doubles to its doom, with a well-placed slice at the head followed by a roll and blocking using the haft of his halberd. The monsters he was facing were all... duplicates of his... alter ego. That was the best way Mazzy could describe it at least.
She scrambled for her weapons but found none, instead being confronted by Aerie and her healing hands.
"Mallar..." she coughed.
Aerie shook her head. "It's his fight."
"But..."
"Just rest. Here, let me look at those wounds."

Mallar ducked, a wild slashing claw of the 'slayer' tearing the air where his head had been an instant ago. Out of the corner of his eye he could see his friends regrouping, picking up their weapons and preparing to attack what Irenicus had become. Irenicus's double launched itself at Mallar, its powerful hind legs giving it enough momentum to knock the warrior off his guard even though he managed to dodge the bulk of the attack. In that same instant the real Irenicus launched a frenzied series of blows at Mallar, the taloned fists punching through Mallar's prized armour, a suit of elven chain mail that he had taken from the corpse of a black dragon.
Mallar groaned with pain, "Irenicus... you... shall... not... can... not.. defeat... me...", in an instant of exertion he brought the shaft of his halberd down to trap the arms of a best within himself, then fluidly spun the blade around on the appendages into a position that he could attack from.
The blade leapt forwards.
Irenicus fell.
His double screamed.
Mallar cursed. The double sensing that its death was impending unless it could save its master and maker had leapt at Irenicus' slayer form, knocking him away from Mallar's attack, but placing itself in the way of the attack.

Irenicus leapt to his clawed feet instinctively. He knew what he was, what he was doing and who he was trying to do it to, but he had no control over his body. His rage increased as he frustratedly tried to take control of his body so that he may kill Mallar himself.
His rage served to fuel the beast that he had become, making it more agile than before. It dodged Mallar's attacks with ease, and began to hit the tiring warrior more often, and with greater force. It no longer scratched Mallar's armour but now gouged chunks out of the elven metal. It could smell blood. It could smell the kill. It could smell vengeance.
It could feel pain.
Aerie's last spell coruscated across the slayers hide, making the creature convulse in pain, and yet delight in the pain. Mallar was injured now and of little consequence. It would kill the elven woman now and finish Mallar later.
It spun and leapt at Aerie.

Mallar watched the Irenicus' leap. He saw it impact against the burly knight Keldorn, knocking the knight onto his back, even as he dove after the beast himself.
As Irenicus raked his claws across the chest of the knight Mallar brought up his halberd and turned it sideways. He swept the blade across, sending Irenicus sprawling across the platform that they fought upon. Even as he blurted the words "My... fight..." to his companions Irenicus was standing again, ready to attack. This time Mallar couldn’t care less about the Irenicus's ferocious attacks, he knew what he had to do, even if it cost him his life. He had to stop Irenicus before he could harm the ones Mallar held close to his heart, his love Aerie, his sister, Imoen, his good friend Minsc, and his companions, the knights Mazzy and Keldorn.
With renewed vigour and determination he griped his halberd tightly, magical energy flowing through it, the power of many elements in the same blade.
He leapt willingly at the fiends’ horn covered body, bringing the halberd up into a thrusting stance whilst in the air, the tip of the enchanted pole arm gleaming with blood.

Irenicus screamed at his body to dodge the attack but his body would not move, willing to let itself be impaled by the warrior if it would allow it the chance to get past its opponents defences.
Pain exploded in his chest.
Irenicus screamed, his voice joining that of the beast he had become, his body convulsing under the pain that a solid hit from the enchanted weapon that Mallar wielded could bring.
Inside the his now useless body Irenicus passed out.

Mallar knelt over the still form of Irenicus, watching it slowly revert to the true form of his hated enemy. He stayed still for moment, breathing heavily, regaining his strength. He knew what to do know.
Mallar carefully placed his weapon down and removed his left gauntlet. He placed his hand against Irenicus's forehead for a moment and waited. Within seconds he knew that Irenicus was dying, his soul slipping to its final death.
He tried to clear his mind of thoughts.
"Irenicus, you are dead. There is no point on holding on to what is not yours. Return what is mine and I shall end your pain."
The body convulsed beneath him.
"I shall torment you forever Bhaal spawn" came the reply.
"Then I shall take what is mine by force," Mallar heaved himself to his feat, grasping his halberd as he got up. "It ends... NOW"
With a final effort Mallar brought the bald of his weapon down Irenicus's neck, severing the head from the body.

Imoen watched with awe as gas poured from Irenicus's body into Mallar, blood red gas. She heard him say "My soul. My world."

Mallar awoke with a start, noticing the elven architecture around him as he opened his eyes. "T-THEY... THEY ARE ALIVE!!!" Came the cry of an elven woman out of Mallar's sight. He sighed and closed his eyes again.
