IGN.com have just reviewed (http://dvd.ign.com/reviews/1086.html) Couching Tiger on DVD (gave it 7/10).

Isn't it a bit early to release the DVD? I thought it only came out a while back... (yes i know they are reviewing the Reg1 version, just thought the US\UK release was close together).

In the review it gives a link from where you can buy (http://www.getvcds.com/dvd/dvdhiddendragon.shtml) the DVD.
Just wanting to know:
Is http://www.getvcds.com any good? I've never heard of it.
In the review and order site, it says the DVD is multi regoinal, When the hell did this come out?

Why hasn't play247 or Express got or even mension the film? - that's why i'm a little confused, i would have thought it would be all over these sites...

I'm just a little weary about buying things online...someone i know got charged £2000 for a few DVDs (which should have cost about £60) and he can't get a refund.

The guy who wrote that review is a bloody idiot :)

He hasn't reviewed the R1 version (Thats not out for quite some time).

The Region 0 issue is quite dodgy and if he had any sense at all he would have done 5 mins research and discovered that it isn't the proper version ...

The main CT:HD release is a R3 DVD in Hong Kong. It is anamorphic and all reviews have said its a lovely picture the extras DO include the Ang Lee directors commentary. Apparently all sources I have said it is well worth buying.

You can buy it at
http://www.movietyme.com - based in UK but they are waiting for stock and lots of people have been waiting along time :( £19.99
http://www.coolashop.com - Order direct from this hong kong site. Good reports in newsgroups of their service and apoparently in stock . Taking into account shipping its £17.81 :E Will take around 14 days to arrive apparently.

As for it appearing on DVD so quickly ... This film was released in HK in Summer last year hence DVD release for that region arrives now. R2/R1 release won't be til this Summer at least

Ok thanks, i'll be buying that then :)

I've never actually seen the film (local cinema didn't show it, stupid baffons), but i've heard it's well worth getting.

You won't regret it mate!
I got mine from movietyme and they seem to be fairly good :)

I heard the R1 might include more extras than the R3 dvd.
Can anyone comfirm this?

Me too, excellent movie and excellent quality DVD.

Got mine from Movietyme a month ago but I think there are shortages now so delivery could be a little longer than normal.

I think the R2 is due in July.

I got that DVD from VCDS.com - it's not bad to be honest. Great soundtrack, picture is OK. But it was only 20 quid including postage from Hong Kong, so I'm not complaining. ANd it arrived in 2 days

I'll but the Region 1 later in the year, but in the meantime I can enjoy Zhang ZiYi in the comfort of my own home.

I heard that the Region 1 disc will be RCE. Anyone know for sure?

Not sure Chow - I read on MovieTymes website it was gonna be RCE - but they might just be saying it.

I bought the R3 version of CTHD and it does indeed rock.
Excellent picture/sound and has extras too :)

Never knew Michelle Yeoh speaks with an American accent :)

Well..i still havn't ordered it because:
a) Movietyme doesn't have it (can't even find a link to it)
b) GetVCDs is being a pain and has it down as quantity3, and wont let me change it to 1 (whatever i do, it's stuck on 3)
c) Everywhere seems to be sold out
d) I've lost my creditcard :hmph:

d) doesn't really help :)

:P

well i've got a video camera and a free ticket to a UCI cinema, so depending on ...

a) how much you dont mind mrs rug going to the toilet and walking past the camera every 2 mins

and

b) the normal coughing and crunching of the c*nt who follows me around in life and always sits in front of at every film i have ever been too

I can sort you out :)

hehehe

I hate the coughing person too. And people who think they're really clever by 'guessing' the ending or trying to explain whats just happend to their dunce friend. And they do it REALLY lowd.

Bah Amnion no wonder you cannot find it at Movietyme.
they made this announcement on their site.

'Please note there is now a delay on this title due to studio shortages in Hong Kong. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon will be shipped as soon as possible! Supply of titles from Hong Kong is not as efficient as obtaining from distributers/studios here in the US.
We shall be shipping out the next wave of this title late next week.
At this time we are unable to take further orders for this title due to major distribution problems we are facing from Hong Kong. All outstanding orders will be fullfilled, and once distribution returns to a level we are happy with, this title will again be available to order.'

That is a shame :(

There should be no doubt in anyone's mind that they really should have this disc, cos it's AWESOME.

Watch out watch out people....

New news just in....

Finally Columbia are beginning to realise that CTHD is selling shedloads on R3 because it isn't out anywhere else :)

So from their next batch onwards they will NOT be putting english subtitles on the disc... It will still have the English dub audio but that's pants anyway.... No idea as to when these new batches will kick in... but be warned if ordering direct from HK as I doubt you will get a refund :) So be wary... Movietyme seem to be saying they won't sell the dub-only version or if they do it will be advertised differently. Therefore maybe best to order from them?

Is this a total abuse of power or what? The studio suddenly realises they can make some money off this despite a lacklustre promotion and poor distribution of the film at cinemas and so blatantly interferes with another country's release.

Clipper

Yep it is....

Oh and its confirmed.... But also the English dub is missing as well as the subtitles.

This completely buggers up certain buyers in R3 as not everyone speaks Mandarin or Cantonese (the two languages available on the disc now). Also it is rumoured that the Directors commentary got removed as its also in English. So pity the poor R3 people.

The ironic thing is that now the only english subtitled version of CTHD you can buy is the pirate R0 DVD (which is apparently identical in picture quality etc it just lacks the extras) :E... Well done Columbia for promoting piracy so well.

Apparently Columbia are gonna include an extra Making Of featurette in the R1 release - that was not on the R3 one.

So once again "Ner ner ner ner" as I have the region 3 version before the cuts.... wonder how much I can get for it on Ebay ;)

Well seriously m8 I did consider buying 10 copies when it was available... cos they are going on Ebay for between £30 and £40... lat night a copy went for 38.
Even the R0 version is going for around £20 and you can still buy that for £9 from a certain silvers site!
