View Full Version : Should I buy this or Everquest?
Okay I am new to RPG's, I mainly play games like Half Life and Counterstrike etc, however I want to try out an RPG. Would Asherons Call be the best one to try, the graphics look better than the others out there. Are there any UK servers? Is it £6 a month? Is it easy to get into? Any advice appreciated.

get this :E. the servers are in the us, but you will still be able to play ok on a 56k modem as lag isnt as big an issue here. the sub is £6 a month after the 1st month, this keeps it all running and the monthly updates going. the game can be a little bit difficult to start with, but aslong as you have a good starting template and some ok kit when you start, you should have no problems :)
I got this because everquest looked a bit dated. I also like the way AC gets players to interaced with each other, its very clever. Experianced players get rewarded for helping new characters out.

I had only ever played Half Life/TFC/CS myself and read a review of this 12 months ago. I am completely hooked and have not played Half Life since. It has a very easy console and is easy to get into. I play on Morningthaw as opposed to Leafcull like the majority of people here. I have met people from all over the world and have made some very good friends, I would not hesitate to buy this.
The servers are all in Washington but lag is no issue really, i ping about 500 on average but it is no problem.
I know a lot of people begrudge paying the £6 a month but unlike EQ the updates are downloaded and you dont have to fork out £20 every few months on top of your subscription like the EQ people do.
Thx for the replies, especially Lagers as you sound like the same type of gamer as me. I play CS all the time but want a new challenge, I think I will give Asherons Call a go and see how I get on.
