I am blatant newbie to mapping stuff, In fact I'd be glad If I could just re-texture stuffe But Where doI start, I'd love to do some stuff for Unreal Tournament But I haven't A Fragging Clue where to start
hmmmmmm... UT, first you need to get the mapping proggy off the UT disc
If you've never dabbled before, UT map editing is supposed to be a nightmare. I seem to recall one brave soul posting somewhere that it'd taken him 2 hours just to knock up a single box room.
I don't wanna put you off or anything - and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong - but you ought to know you really could be jumping in at the deep end when playing about with Half-Life/CS or even Q3 might prove a lot more rewarding.
Anyway, best of luck whatever you decide!

No no no! :) I've been doing UT maps a while now and i have to say that the UnrealEd (Now Unrealed2) interface is the easiest mapping program to get your head around. As long as you understand the basics you can get into it really quickly. I knocked up my first room (squarorama :)) in about 30 mins!
If anyone needs any assistance with UnrealEd ill be glad to help :cheese:

lol, you lot r lucky u aint modding for rogue spear or project igi like me :)
u MUST! use 3DSM, no 2 ways about it, (for RS)
and for igi, u use 3dsm for the buildings, and terraform for the outdoor scenery, y'know the one they use to make flight simulators :D.
