Upgrading nvidia drivers

Im using 6.31 at mo
I want to upgrade to 6.50

Do I need to uninstall 6.31 first

Is it a good idea to install directx8
Im using direct x 7 at mo

No u dont need to uninstall the old drivers, just go to device manager and click update drivers. No dont put Dx8 on your computer as the 6.xx detonator drivers are for directX 7. If u want to use directX 8 then get the 7.xx detonators although theses are meant to give poorer performance.

I'd only go to DX8 if you want to see the new version of 3DMark2000 that heralds the DX8 implementation

in which case, you'll want to as the demos are nothing short of heart stoppingly amazing [I kid you not]

v10.5 of the detonator drivers seems to have given me a 20% boost on my GF2-GTS-Ultra card from the v7.x drivers I had before - this being the v7.72

nVidia. Bloody driver geniuses.
