B&W: Genre?

Thought we should have a lighthearted debate on which genre you think B&W should fall into, and why.

I've heard it described as a God Sim, Real Time Stategy, RPG, Resource Management sim, Personality test, Beat em up etc.

But if you had to classify it as one genre, which would it be?

That's a tough one. I think the obvious answer would be god sim. I think it's going to be similar enough to Populous to warrant that. However, you could say that a god sim is simply a glorified term for a fantasy RTS. So I really don't know. Damn you. I'm going to be thinking about this all day now!

You`re all wrong ,it`s an FPS:)
Technically it`s an RTS due to the obvious facts that it`s played in real time and it`s a strategy game.You also have the beat-em up side aswell though.
TBH I just want the damn game and don`t care what you call it:)

Erm, this has nothing to do with your god. The word lighthearted was in italics specifically because of how anal the last thread got over definition of one genre: God sim.

And yes, I still class B&W as a God Sim.

Wait. I missed the start of this argument. Are we talking God as in benevolent guy with beard? Christian god that is. I'm a Catholic but I see nothing wrong with calling B&W a God-Sim. It's simulating you being a god. Simple as that.

Ghost's point was that being a God in a God-like game
should entitle u to be able to do ANYTHING (and he means
ANYTHING) that is move mountains in a single click, create
life, planets, universes, and all the other extremes.

To be honest, I think u're pushing the definition of a
God-game a bit too far there Ghost. B&W does put u in the
role of a God, albeit one with limited powers.

And don't get this thread all anal again banging on about the power of "god". The term for the genre of game created along with Populous is God-Sim. Accept it.

Now the debate is whether B&W falls into this genre above all others...
