Counter Stricken !

Can anybody advise me on the best site to play Counter Strike,and being a complete novice, is there anyway to set up a one on one, to get used to the game before I play against the big boys.

Well Wireplay is a great place to play counter strike. You will need to download the client and so on. There is a rookie server, which usually plays at a lower standard than the other servers. I forget it's name but you should see it in the list when you goto counter strike servers.

Having said this I do find the standard of play on WP is uaually better than on the many miscellaneous servers out there. These you will find using Gamespy, or using CS itself. Suggest quickstart if you want to just get into the action.

While you may find more people at your level using a misc. server, I think you will learn quicker on WP. The community is great, most people are very helpful and there are only a few idiots around.

If you wanna learn to swim, jump in the deep end.

One on ones arnt typical in CS. If you meet up with someone who has a powerful computer and good connection, ask him to host a server and set a password. You can then join and play one on one. You could also do it using a LAN if you have a network handy.

Alternativly perhaps you could download a computer bot to play against from http://www.counter-strike.net. They arnt very good compared to human players, but handy for getting used to the controls and various weapons.

I perfer TFC myself, but i'm getting more used to CS - at first i didn't know the difference between myself and the oponents, look too alike!

Yes I have been playing on CS for a little while, you wont have noticed me because I have another alias. But thats a secret so dont tell anyone.

I have recently played TFC for the first time, seems pretty good. CS is great but sometimes I miss the good old DM. Dont think much of TFC on WP thought, kinda laggy. Not like WP at all, usually really good.

I havnt been in Rumble forums, or tournies for some time. Just been too busy. Try and stop by some time soon. They got the thing working on WP3 yet?

I never use aliases, i think they su><0rz cos you can't really tell who your fighting..

if you look at http://www.letsrumble.co.uk (meh site) you can see what stage the games at, we're not on WP3 yet, you all youn have to do is download 2x 2.5meg files and go to the play icon on there to play the game!

Why is my connection so slow!

Anyway, there are tips about the game everywhere go too http://www.counterstrike.net as a starter point, or the gameplay half-life and counter strike forums.

If you spot really good players on servers don't be afraid to approach them and ask them for advice.
