Hi all,

Glad to see that this forum is up and running! Anyway, I have a typical newbie question for ya all... basically, I want to install Linux on me system... thinking of going for Mandrake 7.2 or SuSe (as recommended in another post). Anyway, I've read some other stuff about partioning your hard drive... well, thats not quite what I want to do. At present I have two hard drives (one of 20Gb, one of 4Gb). Windoze 98 is on the big one, the small one is not occupied... would it be possible to set up a dual boot system with Windows on the large hard drive and Linux on the small h/d? Also, would 4gb be sufficient?
(Funny story : accidental dual boot. Me 4gb drive isn't actually clean yet, but I'm about to format it. When I was installing me CD-RW I accidently plugged the two hard drive cables in the wrong way about... when I switched on what did I get? Windows 95 booting up! Yes, I'm that lazy and I hadn't formatted me drive (that was 4 months ago and I still haven't formatted it!)

Cheers.

This shouldn't be too hard at all. When I installed SuSE 7.0 it came up with an option saying "which drive would you like to use" - I'm almost certain Mandrake setup will do the same thing, and one of the mandrake users should confirm that in a mo anyway.

Thanks Skunk :) Now on to deciding whether to go with SuSE or Mandrake!

Cheers.

Though I hate to say it I'd go for mandrake, simply cos most people on this forum seem to have it so you'll find it easier getting help and advice on setting it up etc.

Yeah, Mandrake has DiskDrake for choosing hard drives and installing easily :) It lists all the drives on your computer and you just pick the one you'd like to use :)

Very simple and very quick! :)
