Im pretty sure of who has the knowledge to be it, but would like to throw it open, within reason.

I know very little about Linux or Open Source for that matter
I know how to use the list function on the forums (all though thats subject to a stewards inquiry)

There's not much point in me being a moderator since I'm a forum admin and can edit any post on the forums anyway - in essence I quietly moderate wherever I go :)

I couldn't disagree with any of the names mentioned at all.

However in the spirit of being different and completely open (i.e. Linux and open source) i think this should be the 1 forum that doesn't have a dedicated moderator.

TBH, do we need a moderator? This forum won't exactly provoke any squabbles or arguements, much the same as you don't get any trouble at the 'Websites and HTML' forum.
We are all nice and friendly aren't we? ;)

Normally you don't sign up to be a moderator..you are asked to. That is probably where you are failing in the other cases. Secondly moderators are usualy selected from regular posters in the community who are known and trusted. Try to become one of them before considering being a moderator.

Finnaly i quite like the idea of no moderator for the open source forum :) and if not i have said my recommendations above.

Agreed - though I'm willing to moderate if asked to, I think that not having a moderator is worth a try. If it doesn't work out, moderators can be appointed then.

Anyway.....Skunk has the ability (if necessary) to moderate things if necessary, so it's not like it's going to become a completely unmoderated area.

How's about a trial run and if it goes wrong then you assign moderators ?
