hi guys

ive just installed Red Hat Linux 7.0, with out too meany probs, except that you cannot see the mouse pointer, if you move the mouse to the edge of the screen you can see it flash(oo err) and disapper again!

any suggestions and tips would be greatfully recived as this is the first time ive seen linux let alone used it!

Sounds like a problem with your X-Windows configuration file. There is a file somewhere you can uncomment that fixes some cursor problems, I'm sure someone here will be able to tell you exactly where it is or something else to help you :)

In fact, I just found this, it might be of use:

If you're running XF86 version 4 or up you'll need to edit
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4 or if it's below version 4 you'll need to edit
/etc/X11/XF86Config. To find out which you're running, enter 'X
-version' at the command line.

Find the following text:

# Uncomment following option if you see a big white block
# instead of the cursor!
# Option "sw_cursor"

It will be in a section headed:
Section "Device"
Identifier "YourMonitorName"

Just remove the # in front of 'Option "sw_cursor"'

ta matey i thought that could have been it and (becase i killed me pute) i reinstalled with lower resolution and it all works now:>
