IRC = Internet relay chat.
A general term for chat programs.

Gameplay offers three ways of talking with other players.

Wireplay 3 (ftp://ftp.gameplay.com/pub/downloads/wireplay/WP3Setup_r2.exe) ..has its own built in IRC client. Each game/area has its own room. where you can meet up and talk before /after playing.

Java IRC (http://www.gameplay.com/wireplay/#) A simple link to quakenet where wireplay has several hundred community room for all games and chat. Help files for this are available here (http://www.gameplay.com/wireplay/newbie/irc01)

mIRC (www.mirc.com) or vIRC (http://www.megalith.co.uk/virc/) Can be set to connect to any IRC server. These are the programs people script in. Many scripts which will appear here will refer to these two clients.
