View Full Version : AO cinematics
Lostboys Studios were kind enough to mail me a shed load of screenshots from the opening cinematics they did for Anarchy Online a while back.
This is them here (http://www.slam-zone.com/cgi-bin/zonenews/fullnews.cgi?newsid987798789,88286,) look.
OK, so it's not news break of the century or anything, but hey, they still look darn smart :)
As a side note, While the 27th June is the penned release date for AO in the States, the UK is gonna be later than that, although they couldn't give me an exact date, the teasers.
I fought they where relaseing it at the same time all over the world?
Well, this was the response I got when I mailed funcom:
Hi,
No it's not gonna be the same, and right now I am not sure
of the release date in UK. You will know it soon enough I think.

Hmmm, I dunno now, maybe I should maybe mail them again just incase? :D
I reckon 27th June: US, 2nd July Europe.
I could have sword they said all on the same day, but then again theat would bust the system with thousands logging on.
I'd be very suprised if it's released on the 27th in the States.
From what I may/may not have seen while playing/not playing the beta, theres a lot of work that needs to be done. Both in terms of content and stability.
The E3 shots may look nice, but the engine itself needs a lot of work. If beta 4 goes open (which is looking likely, they've hinted at idea a few times) then you'll be able to see for yourself. Still a class game though, and a million miles in front of anything else out there.

phatb0y, the engine has apparently been stabilised. The playable demo at E3 was 11.x, whilst Beta III testers only have 9.x.
From my sources ( ie, people I know who attended E3, and got to have a quick go on AO ) the engine is a lot more stable than what it is in 9.x.
Oh, and I've also heard that it's a global release date. I'd be surprised if they missed Europe out, seeing as Funcom is a Scandinavian company.
It'd have to be a vast improvment over 9.xx, and more importantly over 10.xx (which was the closed/closed build and was the step up to the creation of the 11.xx build for E3/Beta 4).
There are two sets of beta testers. There are the 9.xx bunch, and the 10.xx bunch. The 10.xx bunch were selected to test a version that had a bit more content (Oooh! Grass!) and a few minor improvments to stability, they spent most of their time chasing around graphics glitches and whatnot. The 9.xx bunch (who now rarely get any feedback from Funcom regarding anything) are being used (from what I can gather, it certainly feels like it) purely as a stress test.
It'll be interesting to see what 11.xx is like when Beta 4 materialises, but it'll have to be something special after seeing 9.xx and 10.xx.
As for the release date, I don't think it'll be released anywhere on the 27th. You can stick at least another month on top of that date.
