Does anyone have any experience with this firewall application? I've been trying to install it for the past two days. I've got the RPM version and have installed it with GnoRPM, with RPMdrake, directly from the console, but I can never get the thing to start. It is meant to install to the Applications/Internet groups, however I don't have an Applications/Internet group, just various other groups underneath Applications.

I've tried "firestarter" and lots of variations in a console (as root) and am rapidly reaching the end of my patience. Heck, I thought installing RPMs was meant to be easy? I tried to find a HowTo on RPMs from my installed documentation, but clicking the Documentation link did precisely: nothing. Getting a bit miffed, if anyone (aef) can help I'd appreciate it.

Oh and my RPMdrake/Software Manager keeps hanging as well now. Not sure why, but once I open it I see a couple of the menus and that's about it, and I have to Kill it. Not sure what's going on there either...

I got given this link last night for firewall type programs: http://suse.de/~marc

I'm yet too look heavilly at his programs, but from what my mate said his stuff is top notch.

Anyway, exams nearly over, going to attempt an ipchains firewall soon :D

Pmfirewall was going to be my first choice, but it only works on kernels using ipchains, not iptables like Mandrake 8.0 uses by default.

And thanks for that link :)
