View Full Version : Argh! The Dreaded GCSEs!
Just want to say good luck everybody, I know a lot of the forum's users (I think) are gonna be taking these, so let's hope we don't all fail..
I had em last year.
All easy.
English is a <female dog> tho.
French is easy yet hard.
Art is fun.
DT is fun.
The others vary.

Modular courses:The greatest idea ever. They allow me to take a test,do well, and if for some reason I do badly on the next one,I've still got the good marks from the first one in my pocket.
Modular Courses:
Science
English
French
It works great!I got 42/48 in my 1st Fench module,meaning that I have 42/320 which means I already have a G grade and a GCSE in French!Of course,who wants a G...
Yep, that's one reason i'm doing the BTEC insteasd of the GNVQ for computing instead of A-levels, which for me would be a waste of time. In fact, A-levels would be a total waste of time and just a repeat of the time i've spent at school.

I'm doing a AS level in IT next year, but i hope to go on and do something at university later aswell.
All my tests so far have been eeeeeasy. German - easy, Geography - easy, and today we had Biology and i spent the last 45 minutes just making eye contact with all the fit gals in our year..... and these are supposedly my worst subjects. Maths and French tomorrow. Shouldn't be too hard.
There isn't must point to learning German as it is an uncommon language, spoken in places there is no need to go to.
English, Japanese, Spanish, & Italian all have good reasons to be learnt.
For a scientist, knowledge of Greek and Latin make things a lot more simple, and many words in the English language are Greek or Latin.

I plan to learn japanese sometime, but the choice was two out of geography, history and german. And i hate the way you are assessed in history (its not that i don't like it). So i chose geo and german.
History's an easy subject! It's much easier than geo, where you have to learn all that stuff. In history you are told what they are going to test you on at the start of the year,so it's real easy.

I knew about hitler and stuff before I took History anyway.
While some of you are taking GCSEs or whatever. I'm moving into next years course today, which I'm not looking forward to.

Physics is the easiest out of all the sciences!
What are those RE ANKNJSAKD or whatever????
Chemistry is by far easiest,if a little complex...
Physics (originally predicted A*, but teacher's nervous breakdown and his replacements have lowered this slightly) is easily the easiest Science, although they're all harder when you take triple science. Chemistry (A) is the second easiest, with Biology (A) as the most difficult.
I don't like humanities subjects, or technology subjects. French is another one I don't like.
English, Japanese, Spanish, & Italian all have good reasons to be learnt.
Just English and Japanese IMO.
I had Maths (non-calculator, Higher) today, and all the way though I was wondering why I didn't take Intermediate. To make it slightly worse, I had the song 'One Step Closer' going through my head for the entire two hours, so I wasn't in a good way...
Try taking:
Double Award Science Modular GCSE
Higher Maths GCSE
Higher English GCSE
Technology:Resistant Materials GCSE
RE GCSE
Geography GCSE
History GCSE
Higher French GCSE
(ones with no level I'm not sure of,but I think they're higher too)
Dual Award Science Higher
Maths Intermediate
English Language Higher
English Literature Higher
French Higher
German Higher
Religious Education Higher
Design and Technology Control Higher
Well,it seems just as tough as mine,'xcept for maths.People say German is easier than French, but |I would think they're about the same.

I'm doing higher in all my subjects, apart from french and german. Maths non-calculator was a real female dog. In my mocks i got about 60% on the non calculator and about 90% on the with calculator averaging out to 75% and a A*!
Diablos, let him say what he wants.
Actually, maybe that word should be disallowed, in case it offends people. Yes, I think it should.
I did intermediate because I felt i'd get higher marks, I think i will have done
In the mocks, I got a B on the Maths Intermediate paper.
I don't think I can get an A, but I'm still going to try, because the college I'm going to teaches both Maths and Further Maths, which requires an A or A* and I really want to get on the course. I took a risk with the Higher paper; I'm hoping it pays off.

Don't worry waller - you only need about 19/20% to get a C on the higher, 40% for an B, 56-60% for an A and 68-70% for an A*. Did you have to do maths coursework is yours all based on the final exam(s)?
I did two pieces of coursework. It was just unlucky that I lost them though and had to do both pieces the night before they were due, so no full marks there, I think. It didn't appear to be based on anything AFAIK.
