Which is btr: Continual rep. or 'evolution'?

I have had mixed opinions about my music, but generally complaints. I make simple tracker music which are, in their nature, based on repetitious patterns, but some people think that they repeat too much and others say that they change too much (because sometimes I like to let the tune "evolve"). Is it some type of balance or equilibrium that needs to be reached, or is it just the rudementary aspects (like the beat) that should remain consstant and tunes appear and reappear throughout the songs?

My songs do vary from electronic to ambiant and even orchestrial, but I always get critisisms.

I'm unsure where to go next and I need the mass opinion. Or is it just completely subjective and opinionated?!
