View Full Version : Recruitment
Ok I may have managed to get us some overseas players. This people are good and belonged to the astral dragons from asherons call. The guild (of which I was part) was well know for its mature players). Some are americans others are from Austraila and europe.

Good stuff.
Mature meaning in behaviour more than age I imagine (they arent as proportiante as some would have you believe).
If anyone can get players from UO EQ and AC it will help because of their experince with MMORPGS and the good judgment that goes with it.
Woot!!0:E good news At least 5 people have siad yes to joining from my old asherons call guild. I think it is best that we appoint one of these a elder to look after over seas players(ps considering there may a fair few overseas members would I believe it would be better to have 2 people in this position of varying timezones).
Once the web site is up and running we should start a small recruiting campaign.
We should not let the guild grow to fast I believe we should set are selfs members marks.

Erm .. calm down there Celchu boyo.
That`s quite a large Guild. With it comes administration nightmares. Set sights a little lower. I think getting 50 members will be a good target.

agreed let keep it to people we know from old games and wireplay peeps.

Whats the Pay Structure?
GimpChimp
07-06-2001, 18:13
I`m not too sure what the pat structure is, but I think it`s going to be about £10 a month.
Anyway, the more the merrier, although we`re looking for some people to fill certain roles.

Pish well me n some m8s are gonna set up an assassin Omni guild (people from UO, AC and EQ)... none of this Rebel malarky. Depending on where you stand on PVP, a guild war could be good practice for us both :)

"I`m not too sure what the pat structure is, but I think it`s going to be about £10 a month."
if they did that they would be shooting themselves in the foot, i reckon about 6 quid a month (same as UO and EQ)

It's $12.95 :)

Why would they be shooting themselves in the foot ? By charging more so we get better customer support. EQ and UO can hardly be good guages for this issue.
More money does not = better support
Take a look at Railtrack if you want proof
In UO there are roughly 300K accounts
300000x7 = 2,100,000 PER MONTH
And bollox to they spend that all on the game, or even a generous proportion of it.
AO won't be any different, 90% of the in game support will be volunteer staff anyway

Again, I repeat. EQ and UO can hardly be good guages for this issue. Give FunCom time to prove themselves. THEN go on a rant. Okay ?

Oh, and don`t compare a public sector rail company to a games company. They don`t compare.
My point still stands though, do you honestly think that because they are taking in more money that they will put it all in customer support? It's a pretty wild assumption.
They already had the "$12.95 is too much" arguement on the official ao forums, the vast majority of people were in agreement that it's a fair price.
£10, if it even works out at that much after currency conversion, isn't a lot to pay imo and if u gonna use uo or eq as comparisons then take into account how crap they both are in comparison to ao :D
/me dons official ao fanboy shirt :)

Are you guys starting the guild from the the beta?
I should be on tonight, but can you give me some tips on which class...etc... to choose?
If your looking for varied guild members, I'm more into 'adventuring'. Going out with a group and hunting down animals... preferably using brute force to destroy my foe. uhm.
?

With the 'brute force' thing, I`d say Homo Atrox Soldier, maybe Enforcer. That would be the major damage dealer.

Thanks Gimp, I've just been home and I chose the Atrox-Soldier. As for the Enforcer, it sounded good, but it seems Soldiers have better weapon handling skills, so that got my vote :)
BTW, are you guys Omni-Neutral-Rebels?
I wasn't sure, so I went for Neutral :|
Can I change later on?

We`re Rebels, but you can choose which side you want to join later on.

And Soldiers are medium - long range fighters. Enforcers are generally melee only.

Ah thats good, I prefer to weaken my oponent from a distance. Then rush in and finish them with my bare fists
Soldier should suit me fine!
GimpChimp, can you give me a copuple of tips?
When I made my character, I started in a dimly lit location. It had a swamp'ish feel!
Whats the best thing to do first? I gather finding mission boths and starting quests.
But, is there anything I should avoid? Or any items I should buy?
Also, how do I chat?
+ Links to good newbie sites would be appreciated :)
Thnks.

I`m not playing the game yet m8te. But from the sounds of it, you`ve started in Tir ?
My suggestion is to hook up with someone who`s playing the Beta already, and run around.
