oh yeah! hehe!
why are so many of the voice actors the same in anime shows? as i've said before, the guy who does goku did trowa's voice in gundamwing, and vaughan in escaflowne.... and the guy who does piccolo did duo, AND the guy who does android 18 (i think) and yam-cha did wufei's voice... whyyyyyyyyyyy????
Damn, I'll have to check that one out.
I guess it's because it's they're job, and they're good. Perhaps there's not too much demand for this kinda work, or there's not many people. Too many things to mention.

The real reason is both DBZ(here) and Gundam W are dubbed by The Ocean Group, so that's why you get the same voices.

yes but the voice actors doubling up in multiple series doesnt bother me but when they think about gohan for a second........then think about hildy.....
HE'S A GUY AND SHE'S A GIRL!!!!!!!
i mean it's semi accetable in japanese when female actors voice male parts cos it's not all that bad but when u get to doing it in english dubs.......then omg!
note: If anyone else has heard Quatre's voice in the Japanese version of Gundam Wing then tell me........are u anywhere near as "OH MY FUXING GOD!" as i was when i first heard it ?
Does anybody really care? Also Excelsior are you slightly hard of hearing?
You guys are getting really desperate when you cross check that the same voice actor is doing 2 characters voices, just look at yourself! =]
Do any of you acctualy know anything about anime or manga lol, or do you just watch what comes on Cartoon Network? And them try and make a valid point by sayind "oh ohh guys dbz is starting a new saga!" "oh ohh someones voice is the same as someones in gundam wing" well its probably the same as someone in Samuri-x or Fist of The North Star, except that most of you have only ever heard of Gundam Wing and DragonBall, oh and Akira, who the hell hasnt heard of that.........
Wrench your the only one in this post who as made a good point, yes it is there job so naturally there going to be employed for lots of work in that field, also Excelsior for your information i think youll find that the voice actors dont just act one voice, eg, vegetas voice actor is also Zarbons. But again nobody really cares since the voices change every bloody saga.
Also to answer the question in task Gohans voice is done by these 3 people: Saffron Henderson, Stephanie Nadolny and Kyle Hebert.
Oh look one of them is a woman, oh gee hey guys guess what bart simpsons voice is done by a woman too, headline news....

I'll think you'll find most of these people have seen alot of anime, its just that dbz is hard to see by other means, as most people dont know where to download episodes from, you still havnt told us, and its hard to import as there are only a few dvd's out there.
Other anime is easily available. Dbz is one of the harder ones.

he is quite. i personally find him not the least bit positive in any aspect. he just seems to come on here and diss us for thinking such and such. or saying "duh do this" to particular topics.
personally i think that the animes should be perferable than the manga. it's on tv and not a book.....the picturse movvvvvee!! and it has real voices!!
however this is not the case as many manga versions are superior to the anime.
ahem. no one can make a valid post saying
"oh ohh guys dbz is starting a new saga!" "oh ohh someones voice is the same as someones in gundam wing"
cos that's just saying a statmenet. just like pigs can fly. it's a statement but is it true? erm NO
listen to the voices again. u'll find out how similar they are with no differences. the voice actor/actresses made no attempt to conceal this by giving them different voices. if s/he was any good then s/he would and should of done so.
oh and Nancy Cartwright's situation is differnt. she plays one main character (dont include nelson, ralph and the others. they arent significant enough). If she were to do a new series using the same voice she concocted for Bart then that would just be crappy.
oh and Saffron and Stephanie are both female names. so that's "TWO" women. this means u either cant count, cant read or are unfamilar with the female speicies. wouldnt suprise me if it were all three.
now reply positviely for once
Bert Raccoon you have a good point:
Most imports are hard to find, and even then, theres a catch of requiring a USA compatible vhs player/dvd player. Of course cracking a dvd drive is a lot easier than hunting down an USA video machine.
Try http://www.up1.co.uk/up.nsf based in the UK, still need the compatible stuff tho....
Excelsior Im just going to ignore you, arguing with 14 year olds or whatever is so slow, they dont realise playground insults dont exactly annoy....
shadowboy
07-06-2001, 19:16
what the **** is your problem, SLi?
excelsior's message didn't use any "playground insults", and you saying only that shows that you are in fact incapable of arguing with him, either because you're too snobby or just too ****ing stupid
and if you look a short way down the forum, you'll see that we all already know about united publications
AND HAVE YOU NEVER HEARD OF REGION FREE DVD PLAYERS?
tit
and how dare you say that we're sad for, supposedly, cross-checking actor's names, when any idiot can tell they're the same people just by listening, THEN you go on to list all the people that have done gohan's voice, you complete hypocritical ****e
and yeah, i don't mind admitting that i've only ever seen the stuff on cartoon network and a few films my friends have let me borrow in the past. i mean, WHAT? you expect a teenager like me who only gets 20 quid a month to blow it all on a couple of videos or a DVD that he'll only watch once, maybe twice?
and i mentioned the bart thing not because it was "headline news", but because it was an example of a character that was voiced by a female, yet doesn't sound like one. of course, if you think bart *does* sound like a woman, then just goes to show the kind of women you hang around with.
why can't you just respect other people's space? i personally am totally against alcohol, but do i go on shadow templar's message about him getting extremely drunk to poke fun at him and generally act like a complete snobbish tit?
NO
so i don't expect anyone else to do it, either
now **** off

oh, and one more thing: get to know your "there"'s, you tit
not one of them was used in the right context in any of your messages
here's a little reminder for you!
"they're" is short for "they are", like "they are going..."
"their" is to show ownership, like "their hair..."
and "there" is to show the location or general existence of something, like "there is an elitist tit called SLi who thinks he's better then everyone and feels he has to put them down to make his own sorry existence somehow more valid"
haha, i made that up totally on the spot as well :)

Congratulations.
You have achieved nerd of the year for pointing out English mistakes.
You can stop pulling on your d*ck now and calm down.
Yes.. That right... everyone is laughing at you.
"you tit" theres no point insulting him like that im sure that it made him think for a whole...... um perhaps not at all. I came here looking for some info .... think im off again now tho, I havent found what im looking for.
Also it should perhaps be noted, that you SHOULD NOT insult peoples grammar and spelling on these forums. While I am not saying that this applies to sli, shouldnt you think that some readers/posters on the forum may be dyslexic?
Judging by your posts, some of you might find it funny, but perhaps you should think, people with dyslexia are peoples bosses, company owners, and many other repectable positions in everyday life. There is a big world outside this anime forum, and I do personally know people with dyslexia, and I must say that they would be very insulted to read such a reply.
Think about it.
On another point most dvd players being sold today are NOT at point of sale region free. My Pioneer dvdrom drive was not region free and indeed had to be cracked.
On the plus side, its a top piece of kit :) but eitherway you might want to do some research on hardware, call yourself an anime expert.... maybe I wouldn't know. Call yourself a hardware expert? If so I say BS.

Whoa, calm down Kat. I really do doubt that Shadow was disrepectign dyslexics in any way but merely just insulting the intelligence of Sli for attacking the others in the forums in the sense of calling them unknowledgable about animes.
We can't all be 100% PC all the time can we?
There is no point in arguing with him. He's the sort of person who puts out his point of arguement, which is normally very weak, and then refuses to reply to the follow-ups as they are far superior to what he can say and his mental capacity can only rise to saying the ever so clichéd "i dont care".
Yeah, I had no playground insult of any kind. I think we can all see that my posts are more sufficient arguement-wise than yours. It might being brag and all but I don't think many people like you here, seeing as all you do is slate people for watching CN.
on another note so wot if i was 14? it wouldnt make a difference. i was probably more intelligent than you when i was 14 in any case. I'm 17 the same age as you for your information and ending internet quarrels with "HOW OLD ARE YA? 14? MUST BE COS U STUPID!" is pathetic, has no impact and is also clicéd.
Damn, I've got to learn the codes to do those fancy lil' "c's" and that as well as the umlauts.
Well, this looks like the first flame on the Anime forums, another historic moment, let me just savour the moment...
Ok, now you may have noticed that Nancy Cartwright (Bart's voice) also does a voice spot on 'God, The Devil And Bob', she's the daughter of Bob (a female voice this time).
I don't necessarily believe that being able to tell that a voice actor has done this voice and that voice, necessarily means that they're bad at their job. Everyone has a unique voice and there's only so many things you can do with your voice, especially in these cases as the creators/directors have an idea of what they want a character to sound like, so you can't go up making up some new voice, so you may sound very alike to a previous character. They may have been hired for that voice because they've heard them do that voice on another show.
One more point, I don't think that dyslexia causes you to fault your grammar. As far as I know, it's to do with spelling, so Shadowboy does have a valid point there, dyslexic people may have difficulty spelling, but it sure don't affect their grammar.
:cheese: Please don't flame me, I was just making a few points - call it what you want. Nit picking then! But it's what I do! I think this flame will die down a bit now I've set the record straight on some things and jumped to the defence on some topics (I deserve a badge of bravery), so there's no point flaming over them. You're just left with name calling/insults and anything else that still remains. Have fun! :E

yes, wrench is right, dyslexia only affects spelling... words/letters appear jumbled up and kind of move around the page/screen...i know this because one of my best friends is dyslexic... so, it shouldn't have any effect on Sli's grammar.
katmai, i don't claim to be either an anime expert nor a hardware expert, but i DO know that region free DVD players are easily bought if you stray a little further than your local dixons (and i'm not referring to anything illegal here)... and i'm talking about separate DVD players that plug into your TV, not DVD drives for a PC...
anyway, you're right, deadcell, let's just try and ignore Sli in future...
BinoX-RomZ

Surely if it makes words and letters seem jumbled up then it must be hard to punctuate. If you can't read it properly then you won't know where to put punctuation, therefore effecting grammar.

I got my DVD from dixons (or currys, same company tho). Its a samsung511 and i made it region free (LEGALLY). Ask on dvd forums for more info on that :)
And voice actors can do lots of voices, for those that played Black & White the good and bad advisers were done by the same bloke, because that what they do!!
shadowboy
10-06-2001, 18:25
erm, it would only affect someone's grammar if the letters jumbled up carefully enough to change the meaning of the sentence.
chances of that happening?
exactly
and what's happened to SLi, anyway? is he too scared to have a proper argument with anyone? his reply to excelsior was weak and now he seems to have just given up completely.
so, in the words of the great manji:
"IDIOTS WHO CAN'T FIGHT SHOULD KEEP THEIR SWORDS SHEATHED, YOU DAMN FOOL!"
the guy who does Shinji in Eva is the Guy who does the Kid in BubbleGum Crisis :)
they are quite odd sometimes when you hear them you think ermm odd that :)
its just odd totaly differnt story and you had previously associated that with a ttoaly differnt personality and person and you hear them totaly out of context :) its very werid :)
im dyslexic and yes i can understand some of the grammer but i just cant get it to work right most of the time as you can tell :) i just cant get my head round it.
but i was never tought grammer cos they gave up on me
there is many varations of dyslexia that can affect you in lots of differnt ways but its a learning diffaculty. Just most people get lessen the effects by constant study and practice or use a computer is one good way to do it.
