We all love our gameplay console gamers community and it would be good to have a back up forum just in case the worst comes to the worst and these forums are no more soon.

well to keep the community alive it would be a good idea for everyone to sign up for the forums here (http://www.ntsc-uk.com/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi?action=intro&BypassCookie=true) just as a back up measure

i know this might just look at spammage but its just that i would prefer this community to stay together even if the worst comes to the worst.

cheers

And if the worst comes to the worst, there are always these (http://www.madgamerz.net/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi) forums; they'll suffice as a backup of a backup. :D

yo abi

everytime camps mentions the site, you pop up and advertise yours. its not very sporting of you:(

the damn cheek of it all! :E

Its a good idea tho camps, as its very possible that we will lose these forums. While we have the odd arguement etc the community is good, so it would be a shame to lose it.

Today is the big day. I just hope that things don't go as far as we loose the forums.

Hardly, Disco. I've mentioned them twice in response to yours, whereas you've been spamming the whole forum with links to your site. :D

Why might we lose the forums? What have I missed?

Make that forum(s).

I know you mean well guys but do you really need to continue ramming it down people's throats?

There is a reason for that Red, I for one have enjoyed posting here for the last two years, ive built up a hell of a lot of good icq/irc friends because of these forums and have had some great times. The possibility is that we may lose these forums at any time, which personally speaking would be a great shame, I am sure you would agree on that. In that worst case scenario, I would love to see the community continue elsewhere, and already we have almost 40 registered members, 90% of whom are regular posters here. I am sorry if it appears we are ramming down you throats as you put it, as thats not the intention.

If you've got everyone on ICQ etc surely you don't need to tell everyone about it? :P

Seriously, I don't wish to rain on your parade, I wish you luck with your venture it's just that it's feeling more like spam. It's admirable you're looking for a new shell but like I say, we don't need a post each time the last one falls down a bit reminding us they're there.

I dunno, maybe I feel over saturated due to certain people spamming in other forums   I don't mind the advertising but can't you just keep it to the siggys? From the look of your members list you're not doing too badly anyway.

Just wondering - howcome Gameplay is going down? And is it just the website or the whole company? I thought they were very profitable.

If you want lots of regular posters on your forums, you're not going to achieve it just by getting people from here to go there. You'll have to ensure it lists highly in the most popular search engines. You'll also have to lure people from other gaming sites. If not, your regular members will get bored and leave. I think this place has been milked enough; if people wanted to register, they would have done so, and indeed some have. Getting members to register is easy, but getting them to stay is incredibly difficult. There are probably more gaming forums on the Internet than any other forums, and once people have 'settled' at a particular one they probably won't budge without good reason. :)

I have a lot of forums to visit - obviously I spend a lot of time at my own forums (I've managed to build them up quite well but it has taken months - it's a hard slog!) and I also post here, VGF, and a few little forums, as well as visit numerous other sites. I couldn't possibly fit any more forums in. There are just too many.

You have got to be joking? Gameplay are in a serious financial mess.

Abi

I check your site m8, and I was wondering why you use a forum system as your review pages?

I think its slightly unfair to term the posts as spam, afterall you used to refer to spank! on several occasions when working on the site m8. Its natural that people want to advertise their site on the forum, and lets be honest the number of threads we are talking about are hardly disrupting the flow of the forums.

Anyway, thanks for wishing the site well.

Because they look good, and they are easy to update and add to (it beats faffing around uploading pages every time I've got to add news or reviews!)

I've modified the forums so that they don't say 'new topic', 'post reply' and 'register' etc. Literally all it has on it is the title of the news article or review, when it was published, and at what time. I think it's quite effective for a news and reviews database, although I do have a problem with the coding (which I won't go into but if you go to the websites and HTML forum you'll see a topic about UBB hacking - that's got my problem outlined in there). I don't think they look much like forums, but you've obviously got a keen eye. ;)

Hey guys, if we all chuck in 10p each, we could buy Gameplay between us, then we wouldn't need the NTSC-UK forums!

Oh please. I hardly used to refer to Spank! in here and if the subject did come up, it was usually because someone else brought it up.

Besides, you probably don't know what I mean when I say that other people have been spamming other forums - and I don't mean that in a pissy way, just that you don't hang out in the forums where other people have come in with a post that masquerades as a post in that forum but is actually little more than a spam post for NTSC-UK.

But like I say - looks like you're doing OK anyway so...

cheers Red - the 'spamming' has just happened so that if these forums do indeed shut down then at least peeps know there is another forum they can join which is set around gaming

btw why don't you join em Red - it would be good to see you grace our little forums :)

I don't visit the console forums much. Well contribute anyway, I scan over the topic titles but don't get much time to contribute. I'll do the same at N-UK so if you see a "guest" is browsing it might be me. And I'll probably register eventually :)
