PLease help me, need help playing R1 disks.

HOwdy all, my folks just went to the states and brought me back a couple of sweet choices thinking that any disk would work in any player. Now i got a Phillips DVD711 I think it is. Is there a way to get round the region setting on it or do i have to get it chipped????.
OR
Can i play it on my pc and get around the region change setting somehow. I have Zoran softdvd and a Samsung DVD-ROM SD- 608 in my pc. Now softdvd says I can change region 5 times. So can i get two versions of softdvd installed and set one to region one and the other to region 2 <or say softdvd and some other player> Or do i need a driver crack or soething similar. Also whats this RCE thing that sounds so vicious to dvd players.

You're in luck....all phillips players can be handset hacked using a one4all remote control which you buy from argos.

you can buy the remote, hack the player, then take the remote back to argos for a refund.....or keep it cos it is actually very useful (I kept mine)

If you want to hack you DVD rom then try DVD Genie which allows most DVD software to be region free.

Some ppl have told me that DVD genie only allows three change and after than it gets bound to the a region

not true ! i have am using PowerDVD 3 with DVD gene, and i have changed my player to just about every region going, and then back again. and it hasn't stuck yet ! (touch wood)
