What is the point in releasing online games with out the online function added??

To clarify the above I'm talking about such games as Quake III on the PS2 Unreal Tournament and Daytona on DC and so on.

Do you enjoy these games as much or would you rather the company had taken the time and effort (for a change) to put the options in. Obviously with the PS2 there is little point at the moment but with the dreamcast it seems kind of lazy.

So what do you think?

Well, with the dreamcast being deader than the residents at your local morgue ,would you bother your ar.se with it? ;)
I would have loved quake 3 on PS2 to have an online option though, but it is not essential to the game, the four player split screen is rather fun.

with the residents at the local morgue near me turning into mutant zombies it just goes to show that there is indeed hope for the dc

the developers did indeed plan an online option for Quake 3 on the PS2 - but then they remembered that the PS2 has nothing to get online with............ DOH!!!

Peace

Bein serious tho...

yeah I do think it's a shame online modes are bein ripped...at least on DC there is access to versions of the games with online modes via import, however for the short term future at least, it looks like online console gaming is being put on hold.

Shame really, so much possibility...so much wasted time...

Still, so long as the split screen/ i link modes are good, I don't tihnk anyone's gonna miss it too much! 6 player GT3...woo hoo!

Unfortunately, people voted with their feet, and did not support Sega by buying its product, preferring to buy on the basis of brandname rather than features such as originality or online gaming.

This has meant that, particularly in Europe, where costs are high and DC sales relatively thin on the ground compared with Japan and the US, the online option would lose the developer money.
