Suppose this is an extreme sport, depends on how much of a crazy mofo you are :E but I haven't rode in years and now I live near some countryside with birds'n'stuff I want to take it up again from my crazy BMX Mongoose days...

My local shop asked me what I wanted out if it and came up with a Trek 4900 (http://www.trekbikes.com/bikes/2001/mtn/4900_main.html) in my price range and said it was a good beginners/intermediate bike with much potential...

so.. is it?

How much you paying for that Suzay? Looks very nice! :E

I'm also looking for a reasonably priced Mountain Bike - any places online that are any good for that? (UK)

Biking is great fun. I'm out on my bike nearly every day. I'm pretty much a casual biker - i got some friends who are REALLY into it but i just like thrashing about on the bike. I'm also pretty cack at it - lost count of the number of times i've come off the damn bike!
Still got the scars to prove it... :-)

Well in the end I bought the bike several models up :E
I got the Trek 6500 (http://www.trekbikes.com/bikes/2001/mtn/6500_main.html) in spinkee yellow which is bloody brilliant compared to bikes of years ago. It weighs virtually sod all and goes like the clappers across wherever I go or should say hit :). It cost 650 smackeroonies though but the shop through in a £50 camelpack and micro pump so can't complain :E

I'd find a decent bike shop locally Yock because the bikes and accesories seem to be price fixed so there no cheaper online than in the shop.

Uh, haven't been biking since I bent my front fork back 12 and a half inches after a head on collision with uh, a wooden fence...

Rain, speed, roadtraining = Aquaplaned about 25 ft smack into a bloody fence thang..

= Much pain + Seriously twisted bike.

Never been able to afford the repairs, waaaaaah!..

I did ride mountain bikes for a while, but the karma just wasn't there, so I went back to my first love - BMX racing :)
