Well the samba webby confused me with this, i'm putting together a small network for my mums school. I was going to use win2k on the workstations (only about 20 of them) and get samba on a linux server to act as a domain controller for them, so i don't have to shell it loadsa money for a win2k server :)

My question is, will it work? I saw on the samba website some stuff about not working for windows 2000... but working for NT 4. I think i read somewhere that win 2k can auth with an NT 4 domain controller but that may well be wrong. Any help is appreciated. I don't want to spend the schools cash only to find it won't work how i planned :)

I haven't tried it myself, but you should now be able to use Win2k clients with a Samba server.
