I would reccomend at least an ISDN connection for this game, preferably ADSL or Cable ;)

On my Athlon 750 I have almost all detail turned down to get 30fps (60 in training area for some reason) but for some reason my PC seems worse than it should be at games although its normally still good :E

I think the reccoemended specs should be ok to run the game fine but not sure what you need for high detail :)

Well thanks for the reply then. Guess my system should be okay. And I recently got ISDN, so that should help. (Cable and ADSL aren't available in my area, and are not likely to be until about 2010 :( )

From the screenshots I have seen, and from what I have heard the game sounds excellent!!!

I have the following:
TBird 850@980
GeForce2 GTS-32MB
512MB RAM (@ 145Mhz, I think... can't remember :|)
Cable Modem :)

It's not bad, infact it's the best looking game I've ever seen(except Black&White) and the playing areas are HUGE!
The fact that it's an on-line game makes it a worthy achievement.

To see how the game looks with my setup, take a look at my latest screen shots, posted here (http://forums.gameplay.com/showthread.php?threadid=259187).

You can note the FPS at the top-left of the pic. It's running at 1024x768 16bit. All effects turned on, but I had to drop to 'Normal' textures. With 'High' textures my PC crashes!

WOW!! The game looks truely amazing!!!

And this all runs at this quality on a 850@980?!?

Only one thing concerns me. Is it likely that the Dev team will a few months after release, make a patch that dumbs down the graphics so it will run on lower spec PC's? Sounds daft I know. But this is exactly what has just happened on Tribes 2. It looked excellent, but then a patch came a long that turned off a lot of the quality.

Hey! What are you trying to say about my baby!!!

Don't know anything about a graphics laming patch though, seems strange but I hope they don't.

Sorry, I just assumed that as I get such bad lag in many cities that it takes me 10 minutes to walk down a street even with ADSL that a modem wouldnt run the game too well...

Mosta the people I know in the game are on Cable or ADSL and all of us get such bad lag in cities that we totally avoid the main ones mostly and we even get a bit lagged out for a minute or so in the wilderness ocasionally ;)

I just assumed that from my fairly recent memory of playing online games on a modem that it would be unplayable in some of the important areas (such as cities) without a fast connection, I apologise ;)

Sorry to jump the gun a bit there m8

A lot of it is server side, and I don't think that any amount of bandwidth is gonna make it better

Roll on Europe server

Sorry Convict, not dissing your PC... ;) far from it.

It's just that the quality of graphics I would have imagined on a real high end system... i.e. 1.2ghz or something...

And whats this about the server? Where are the current ones located? And what are the plans for a Europe one?

For the beta there is only one server (based in the US), there should definitely be european servers when the game comes out here (in september) but until then we may have to use American ones ;(

Still, at least we arent in australia, they arent getting AO for about 4 months :E

The lag's due to some bug that'll be fixed in the 11.3 patch h'apparently - I've found that the server performs nicely when u aren't lagging or getting rubber-band syndrome even though it is based in New Jersey :)
There'll be a european "dimension" sooner or later and you'll be able to port your character across from the us one if you've been playing there with an imported copy :D
