When you sign-up to a site do you prefer:

1) A large form which requires lots of info.

OR

2) A simple form requiring only a prefered username and email address, then you add details later through a preferences page.

Also, would you prefer:

1) After submitting info being 'logged in' automatically.

OR

2) Email activation.

I do a poll but dunno how :rolling:

2) for first

I prefer email for second, particularly if I am admin as I know they have to have a working email address....

A- Long forms are definately not on... #2

B- Depends how fussy you are really. As a user, I don't want to wait around for an email, then return to the site, activate myself, change password...

Much better to slap in a password and get right in there.

Definaterly number 2 for the first one.

Number two for the second one as long as they tell you in advance so I use the right e-mail addy and dont have to re-dial to login

I'll tell you what I want, I want an option to turn the 'show signature' box on by default, instead of having to check it every single time.

urm, yeah I think cyber is onto something with 9...
If i can be bothered to register on a forum I dont care too much about form-length (unless its excessively long), but having to wait for an email is a pain if its not sent immediately :/
