Noooooo - Wireplay Stole My Keys!

Well, hoping I would be able to play on WP severs, I joined server #2... and the same old BY/BW/Jolt problem kicked in - after any length of time from 5seconds to 5 minutes, my buy, message and drop weapon keys stop working.

I've tried rebinding but it makes no difference - and some 'odd' lag (as in seems a random frame skips) kicks in.

Now this is from a fresh CS/HL install from the Generations pack.
(and I've tried config.cfg write protecting, deleting, etc)

I can play on Demon/UK2/Random servers just fine.

Any people got ideas?

it would suggest that it's ur PC, that is the problem as all services ave te same problem. 1st things first, check ur HDD for viruses, if there is none, then I can only speculate as u have given no PC specs, that it maybe hardware induced lag? Either that or u need to change ur rate. What conny are u on? go to the console when in a server and type "net_graph 3" without the quotes. Tell me what the loss/choke is. As a rule increasing the rate decreases choke, decreasing the rate decreases loss.

hardware is not the issue as my CS client works 100% fine on every other server other than BY/BW/Wireplay (uk2, demon, random net games, my own, etc) ... only the key problem (which is then preceeded by the odd lag) is with three mentioned.

Specs are fine, and work OK, steady 60fps, 30 - 40 ping with whatever gets thrown at it.

The problem is isolated to these 3 sets of servers unfortunately

Id guess its some weird interaction with the anti cheat.......only difference i can think of between servers. Anyone know what anti cheat those other servers use , same as BY ?

Thing is, BY servers are LAN grade and as such u need to jack ur rate right up. On WP my rate (as a 56k-er) is 4400, which is pretty high 4 56k. However on BY I somtimes have to put it to 6000 to make it playable.

Well finally I've sorted it - and not come out of it looking good, all due to one flamin' odd file. I can now play on BY/WP/BW servers, see below the info I've pasted (copied from BY forums - I asked there for help and ended up talking to myself):

ps - funny how it edited my clan tag....lol....

Lo all

Well I've finally installed Win2k after another fresh format in yet another attempt to get CS to work for more than 1 round.

Got onto BY server - left my PC, came back after 2 mins - and had:

You've been banned for having XQZ2 in your CS

there..... errr... wtf is one of those? All of you who have played with me back on WP should know I don't cheat - is this a rogue file, and if so how the hell do I find it/remove it before I go get myself another CD Key (I've read all the admins won't reinstate after a ban threads).

Unless whatever it is is in my work partition - with all my server files, work stuff, e-mail dbase files, etc.

What should I, if anything, be looking for?

no matter - after searching around on the web I have found what the anti-cheat looks for.... and searched my partition for it... the ONLY file which anywhere resembles the files checked is:

xqz2a.txt

and that was found in:

f:\progs\servers\cfusion\bin\xqz2a.txt

!

Well I've renamed it - and will try one of my other Cd-keys

Finally - I can play CS on BY and WP servers!

The file:

f:\progs\servers\cfusion\bin\xqz2a.txt

was obviously the one causing the problem over the last 4 weeks (with the server messing up my keys and restricting me to knife only) - with it only deciding to ban me today. After renaming that file I can now play fine with one of my spare CD-Keys...

BTW, I've not even tried firing up my CF server to see if this renaming has had an effect on it.. shouldn't have 'cause that file looked a little odd in there.

if you have a firewall check it after this weird stuff happens as the lats few times it happened to me, my firewall was stopping stuff on port 0 from the servers ip but the funny thing is HL doesnt use udp port 0 :confused:
