I need some help reguarding a cheat violation.

A mate has been banned by his own server for a 3rd person cheat violation.
He asked me what is was as he didnt have a clue. Now his clan won't let him back as they think he's a cheat.

From what I can gather from TFC a 3rd person thang is implemented from within the console or your config.cfg?

Can anyone see a problem or possible cheat altered cvar in there?

He was caught running 3rd person view on an anticheat server:

Although I am the server admin this is not a cheat I have come across before and I am not certain if it is just activated by cvar or whether external scripts are needed.

Planet half life seem to suggest that it is a feature of the game that should not be enabled when sv_cheats is set to 0. If this is the case then to get around that you would need a hack of some sort. I have checked his configs and cant see anything suspect in any of them - although that is no guarantee that any suspicious material hasnt been deleted since the event.

At this time Nep has not been banned from the clan, although he is banned from the server until things are decided one way or another. Any information would be gratefully appreciated - particularly reagarding the use of the "view0" cvar that he was clocked on.

Nep is a valued member of the clan and I would like to deal with this unfortunate event from the most informed position possible so that I can make the right decision. Any help is gratefully appreciated.

Soo not true btw. In this case as its 3rd person cheat which hardly helps as ur not able to tab out of it, and u dont get an x-hair, IEO as a whole don't think he cheats, we even played him the next match. Make sure u get your facts right next time please. He was probably scared that he'd be forced to leave as Mr_Rob or Drunken_Gerbil/Nebul@ got caught on our server with pbhack and a simple wallhack and got kicked from the clan.

Firstly haven naming him really wasn't necessary. As you can see I ****'ed out his name for this very reason.
NWA don't get so up yourself I am simply asking for some 1337 cs config advice as I am not a CS player.

As a TFC liaison I am very familiar with all the TFC cheats and how they are used e.t.c I make it my business to know.
In TFC the 3rd person view has to be activated firstly with a simple console command or a line in your config and then it can be bound to be turned on or off and those are in your config.cfg or a particular class config but I cannot see any of the TFC commands that are used in this particular config.
So I was simply looking for someone who has either used the 3rd person view or who was aware of ins and outs of a cs config and could tell what was not in order.

And just for your information. Many leagues still haven't outlawed 3rd person view as you don't need any 3rd party program to do it. I personally don't use it as I can't play...It's bloody awful.

I'll post somewhere else next time. At least I now know.

Appologies for naming Nep
- as we are currently investigating the alleged cheating and have not taken any measures against him, I did not believe it would cause any harm. There is also the fact that he is publicly shown in our CheaterList until this is cleared up. If this is a problem I can edit all my posts to exclude his name ? (let me know).

As for the advice and help you are putting forward Earthwalker - all your efforts are greatfully appreciated. I am not sure where all the hostility has suddenly sprung from and I would like to publicly thank you for your help in this matter. I am not sure why you would want to post elsewhere ? For that matter I am not entirely sure why you chose to post here - feel free to contact me to discuss this - my e.mail is not hidden.

The information I have managed to find about the 3rd person view is that it is indeed cvar based. However, enabling sv_cheats 0 on the host server should prevent its use according to the documentation. The question I need to answer is did Nep intentionally cheat (which he denies) or is this a bug in the anti-cheat software I employ. Our server employs sv_cheats 0 therefore disabling 3rd person. However, there are work arounds that can be implemented through config menu's that allow the no cheat measures to be bypassed. After looking through Nep's cfg files I could find no evidence of the cvars needed to do this. Although this does not preclude him having deleted said cvar's prior to sending them to me.

At the end of the day, I want to make a fair decision on whether Nep broke the rules or not - this has big consequences for Nep as it determines whether or not he is banned from our server (and others) as well as being kicked from the clan.

So to sum up - how reliable is detecting the "view0" cvar a measure of someone using 3rd person ?

Dude, I am well aware of who u are, my RL m8s Death2Mullets (D2M) and LOADSABEER cant praise u highly enough, but one can easily see from ur post there why someone made a user account as Earthw@nker on BY, u basically said that his clan didn't believe him and were calling him a cheat. How am I up myself if I correct u? Ur basically saying we're calling him a cheat on the basis of a very dodgy anti-cheat flag (I mean 3rd person wtf, if ur gonna cheat, do it properly! (j/k btw for any of u with a humour transplant)) when we aren't in fact Haven is working very hard to clear him.
