View Full Version : Having trouble sniping?
Found this lil trick that's quite norty but I thought i'd share it with you anyway..I'm not sure how many people's pc's this would effect but it effects mine so i'll probably effect others..
Right, if you go as a sniper and you zoom in you get a nice crosshair and the view sways slighty to make it more realistic. Unforutnatly, due to this sway, it's possible to miss fairly often. If you don't zoom in however you don't get a crosshair but there's no sway whatsoever. So, exactly where the crosshair would normally be is where the bullet goes.
When in DoD, playing away, alt+tab to windows then alt+tab back. You'll notice the mouse pointer now in the middle of the screen. Let the tip of the mouse be your crosshair and you'll have some perfect shots :)
As I said, it's a bit dodgy and might not work but I thought i'd share it with you all :)

to be honest when I have a mouse pointer in the middle of my view it tends to be quite annoying :rolleyes:
Useful for aiming though :)
If I alt-tab out of HL all of the power in my neighbourhood goes off.
Well, remove the alt key from your keyboard and never again will your neighbourhood go without power!1

Went on your Jolt server while at an all nite LAN last Sat with a few m8s from rl. You all messed around with the server settings, switching snipers on and off so you could have them not us on Overlord, using some BS excuse about how they "didnt have sniper riles in ww2". My m8s all play CS (they were in the [Pro] UK CPL team if any of you follow CS) so have deadly aims. Me m8 Feitek starts pwning you all as Rifleman, then you cry "cheat". Upon what cheat he used you would not state, and kickbans were enforced on anyone who complained. Not that we care much: you were kinda lame as competition and the server was full of gibbons. And, yes I know it's your server and I can go elsewhere - in fact I will. Who would want to play with a bunch of lame moaning slef-gloryfying tw@ts such as yourselves?
What cheat did he use btw? Or was it just plain jealousy at him bettering your ill-gotten scores? And if you really believe he cheats, i'll get him to send you an AVI of his play.

In the months we've had our server I've only banned one person that I can remember. This was on saturday night. I'll assume it was you.

Only one person has the access to our DoD map files with class settins. He wasn't online at the time and is well above doing what you suggest even if he were.
You wanted to know why we didn't have any snipers on, we explained that we feel snipers for either team on beach maps damage game balance. You became increasingly agressive, insisting that we were "lame" and couldn't take a beating. You seemed to miss the fact that there were two people on your team in our tags (both toward the bottom of the score board) and two on axis. We tried to explain that with our map settings the allied objectives are doable but you wouldn't have it.

No one mentioned cheats at all. A player eventually told you to stop moaning. You or one of your friends responded with something along the lines of "go aardvark your mother". I play this game for fun and see no reason why myself of other players on the server should put up with abuse so I banned the foul mouthed oik, no one else. I would have done the same if it had been one of the Blueyonder servers.
Once the rest of your friends left (of their own accord) everyone on the server got back to a good natured battle with good team work by both sides.

you dont need access to the map files, all you do is use a console command - mp_limitalliesniper 0 (or axissniper).
but it looks like your clan already know this ;)

Hmm don't think so seing as I left the server when it started getting tiresome due to your poor control of your own server.

Don't remember that happening mate. The chat was constantly filled with your members moaning when they switched to allies as they realised overlord is poor without snipers. We couldnt even make it to the pipe :|

I thought only one person had access to the commands? If it is you, you were there. And two people were definately banned.
I also love the way you constantly refer to me as being there, when you have no inclanation at all to whether I was even there or not, and if I was what alias I was using. Assumation is the mother of all f*** ups. What I observed from a neutral position across a LAN cafe (I left as overlord came on to play a CS clan match) were a bunch of over-zealous power hungy tw@ts who infact did throw around cheat accusations and had to resort to banning players better than them for this alledged "moaning".

if you dont like us, simply dont play on our server, we pay for, therefore we reserve the right to ban annoying oiks as we see fit.
As it stands everyone in our clan with rcon knows that if there found misusing it, then they get it taken off them, simple as that.
If you still think were all a bunch of planks, and weve aggrieved you badly, then email our cl with details of the incident.

i don't read the forums for over a week, as i'm too busy playing DoD and i come back and LOOK WHAT HAPPENS
we get a bloody flame war. Guys calm down its not even about wireplay servers for god sake.
and if you look at BY and jolt new class restrictions they are limiting snipers on Beach maps too, so whats it matter
BTW razz i have noticed that happening too, but as i don't use sniper it don't matter. It gets annoying to me, cause i already have a crosshair, and then this mouse pointer appears. but yes it could be useful for the sniper, but i guess some ppl will say its cheating.

from what i understand the only "flame" here was that tw@t clan trying to say qrgr kicked them off their server because they were 'too good' (which i find very unlikely)

he wasnt actually moaning about the server class restrictions, he was moaning that they were changed mid game to suit certain individuals.
also jolt havent put new class restrictions on both beach maps, dog1 is set to alliessniper 1 and axissniper 0 by default.
they have however changed overlord to the same as dog1.
BY have actually increased the limit on dog1, they have both allie and axis set to 1,but overlord is reduced to the same.

You bring me up on grammatical errors? (Capslock broken? Hypocrite?) Sorry, but I don't really have the time to meticulously scan every post I make more errors. Maybe it matters to you though. Heh well seeing as it firstly isn't a clan just a buncha mates in the same server, and seeing as we were altogether winning despite 'circumstances' I find this point inherently flawed.

Wow, here have a special medal for observance of the year :| I type out my posts in a rush, and it's the content that matters. If I cared that much and couldn't spell (which I can) I would spellcheck.

can i just point out that on our qrgr server, class limits are set per map, we dont change them as theres no need, there already set how we want, plus no one really bothers learning the rcon commands to change them anyway.
Why?
Because the limits are set how we like to play so why should we change them?
If ppl insist on wanting to carry this pointless fight on, then by all means come into our irc room #qrgr on quakenet and continue it there. tbh ive no idea what its doing in this thread, let alone on the wp forums in the first place.

i haven't read your post Cunning, because it means about as much to me as the pair of socks i threw out yesterday because they had holes in them.
sad really, seeing as it must have taken 10 minutes to write and construct.
