View Full Version : Pet Peeve: When the enemy refuse to win the map so they can continue to p**s on you
I've had this happen a few times, and it's bloody annoying. One team are clearly superior and have managed to drive the other team back across the map until they've got them pretty much holed up at their start point with machine gunners and snipers stopping them from getting further than the first flag. There's only one flag left to cap, but rather than cap it the winning team continue to batter the losers relentelssly, safe in the knowledge that until the last point is capped and the map is reset the losign team have sod all chance of breaking free from the lock down.
Sportsmanship anyone?
I think half the problem is the team getting pushed back arent willing to push forward, I frequently see them with 3 MG's sitting there and mowing down anyone who trys to cap the last point. The one with the bridge, when one side gets reinforcements when its capped isa good example
I can see the annoyance for this happening - as I've been on the brunt end of it before - but it is actually good play.
The reason is you get 1 point for each flag you hold, but as far as I can see you dont get any extra points for getting a full house.
So instead of resetting the score and losing the advantage, they keep the majority of flags and therefore win the game by points as they get 4 points or whatever each tick of the scoreboard.

I was playing 1 map and we had driven back the axis back to the last flag . Then this guy on our side started spaming "dont cap the last flag make them suffer and we get more kills " on the team chat . I think some1 cap the flag just to shut him :dog:
Fack I thought you got a points bonus for capping the last flag? That's just bad design imo, you should get enough of a bonus from getting a full house that lame lockdowns are discouraged :(
Oh, and it's daft giving the German infantry guy 4 grenades.
Other than that though I can't get enough of DoD :)
the german infantry have 4 grens because (im guessing) of the slow fire time of the kar compared with the allies infantry; just making it even i suppose :O
Also some maps do give u bonus'; but at 10points its hardly tempting :/
I got the impression that the kar is a lot more powerful/accurate than the allied rifle, plus it has that rather nippy bayonet for when you want to get up close and personal :) I'm not much of a rifle man though, I tend to play with automatic weapons or machine guns :D

it is more accurate but the ROF is slower, it was even slower pre beta2
I was just thinking this yesterday too. Surely it should be more akin to the TFC map cz2 where getting a full capture much better than holding the CPs for a few minutes.
I dunno maybe there is a reason the makers of dod did it which we havent thought of :>
Yeah, on most maps you do actually get a points reward for capping all of the flags but it is far more beneficial to keep the pressure on all flags bar one. I am not really sure what they were thinking when the DOD team thought of this system as it does not really make sense. Maybe it will be fixed in the next patch, who knows.
