I think no higher than mid-table. They would probably get gradually better since they have the money.

Above Derby County

Top 8ish in the first season.
Top 5 after that.

It'd be very interesting indeed.
I don't think they'd match the likes of Man UTD for a while, but they won't exactly get relegated.

Probably mid table for a season or two but coz of the money generated by the massive support for these clubs (bigger than most of premiership teams support) they would soon be challenging for title I think.

Hail Hail!

I presume you mean the scottish premiership??

I don't think they'll finish in the premiership, will they......?

Hollowman

3f@ll he means where would Celtic and Rangers finish in the English Premiership if they were allowed into it.

If it meant the Scottish Premiership it wouldnt be much of a thread now would it? :)

Rikishi

I think 3f@ll was meaning Celtic and Rangers would both relegated, well thats how I interpreted it.

Yep, I think Rangers would be top 5, evenalthough they're tailing celtic by 13 points I'd guess They'd finish above Celtic (Celtic maybe.. 8th?) because they take games versus Motherwell ect too lightly and get punished. Celtic don't...

Aberdeen still the only team this year to have beaten Celtic in the league :E

Aye well done the sheep molestors :D

Rangers and Celtic would not be out of place in the Prem. Top 10 in first 2 seasons and then they would be challenging for the title every season after. Only Man U can rival their global pulling power and fan base :)

Rangers and Celtic would do ever so well in holding their own in the Premiership. Both teams like to show what they are made of in the biggest atmosphere against the biggest teams as they have tried to do in Europe so I think they could be regularly competing for European spots every season once the teething problems are out the way.

Only thing I can't see is away fans regularly making trips to London every 4 weeks or so. :|

Its obvious Rangers would finish above Celtic in the Premiership as they seem to put on better performances against the opposition with more quality. Celtic have had a few lucky results in Europe this season, thats all.
Rangers also have more pullin power than celtic when it comes to gettin big name players. I mean, how many players had you heard of that play with Celtic now before they went to Celtic? Hardly any. Or they played with lower class teams, like Bobby Petta at Ipswich, hmm!
Celtic are just riding on their luck in the SPL at the moment :-)

QPR were actually an elite group of ex Rangers players who were sent to England in hope of achieving glory.

It obviously failed by the wayside :rolling:

Celtics pulling power only fell due to the bad seasons during Rangers 9 in a row campaign and the boards inability to spend any decent money :(

IMO people want to go to a winning team so if Celtic give a good showing in the Champions League again Im sure they can attract some decent stars...providing the moneys there of course.....

Well it could happen sooner than later with the other SPL teams quitting. I think thats great, seeing Celtic and Rangers in the English league would be excellent.

I don't think they should be allowed to enter straight into the Premiership though, would have to start in the Nationwide.

As long as its Division 1!!!

And once the Old Firm started pulling in the type of money English Prem teams do it'll make it even better at the top :D

Just for a laugh, I say the Conference :P :D
I'd pay money to see Rangers Vs. Stevenage anyday.

Missed that first time.

Anyway, you beat us, consigning us to the Nationwide league

I hope you're happy :bigcry:

Not particularly happy at sending you down, if it helps :{

What with our loss at Spurs today, and Man Utd's win at Ipswich has all but denied us a top 2 finish ;(

So close, yet so far :bigcry:

Seriously tho, good luck in Nationwide, keep hold of Riggott n Christie you should do fine :)

Well after last nights great result I'd say above Leeds anyway :E

Great stuff Celtic :)

Why couldnt we have played like that on Saturday :(

I have to admit, Celtic absolutely hammered Leeds and I was actually quite surprised to see Alan Smith getting stuck in about Bobo Balde and Johan Myjalby (sp?). He certainly must have a death wish about him. :E

The reason Celtic didn't win the Scottish Cup (imho of course) is because Martin O'Neill took too many risks with injured players when there were suitable replacements at his disposal. Why did he leave out Colin Healy and Lubo Moravkic?

As a Rangers fan, I was worried that those two would actually be starting the match.

I would just say Martin O'Neill got his tactics wrong.

Yeah dead right there Seamus he did get it wrong (OMG I cant believe I said that about St. Martin :E )

Healy looks like a cracking player and I hope he gets more games next season coz it'd be a shame to lose him...and its a shame he missed out on the ROI world cup squad too.

I think Moravcik should have gotten a run out too coz he always raises his game in the big matches.

And as for Alan Smith yeah he was being a bit suicidal :E but its also nice to see a player raising his game even for a friendly.

Did Leeds play their first team squad? Or was it more of a celebration of Gary Kelly's career and all that?

Hollowman
09-05-2002, 12:31
From what I can remember of Leeds team it was Robinson, Harte, Kelly, Ferdinand, Bowyer, Wilcox, Smith, Johnson, Batty (may have been a sub?) ...Thats all I can remember off top of me head so it was a decent team they put out no matter what Leeds fans may try and say :P

Seamus
09-05-2002, 17:01
I think the only players that didn't play were Viduka, Fowler and Kewell. Leeds did have a pretty strong side considering. Even Gordon Strachan didn't get a game for Leeds :E

I've still to see the goals, but apparently Alan Thomson's was an absolute peach. :)

Yeah Thompsons 40 yarder was superb but for sheer skill Hartsons takes the biscuit. McNamara lofts a ball forward from his own half, Hartson all of 30 yards out takes it on the volley and chips the keeper!! :O Class!!
