These [OwP] whats the deal?

ok not starting flames or whatever just want to know what's the deal here, I heard that [OwP] are a guild of some sort that are meant to be honest, fair and play a good clean game, i.e no cheating. however I myself and I've heard others talk about [OwP] members getting banned from servers for being caught with cheats also [OwP] people tking, respawn camping, the plain "Bing a muppet" so whats the deal?

I have to agree, the chaps ive seen with the tag seem to think that they are owners of the server-demanding map changes etc-when i respond to them the say "but im OWP, you know what that means?"

To me it means squat im afraid, they are the same as other dod users online..seems some peeps get the tag and think that they are leet..dont rub with me hehe.

One person is as good as the other to me, dont care who they are and I judge them online from what they do in the servers.
Ive had to kick a few recently for being total knobs and generally making a pain of themselves in game.

I dont mind a bunch of people deciding to make a fair play clan and those who join said clan should abide by the written rules of OWP not act like numpties...the majority of OWP ive seen are ok and will play fair etc, just a few twits who are spreading a bad rep.

its a good idea gone wrong.

The principals is you agree to play by fair play, dont cheat and dont act like a lama and try to play the maps how they should be.

Reality is its populated by people who want to look l33t, cheat, act like a twat and generally act like a fool.

With no recruitment process or no way of regulating who wears the tag and no way to repremand members I cant see it working.

yeah it happened today on server #2, 2 players with the owp tag were banned for cheating.
the whole server was laffing :E

I'm an OwP member - simply because I play by the rules and would like to see everyone else do the same

It doesn't mean much I was pretty much inspired to join by others I saw around me wearing the tag

Doesn't make me any better - but by me wearing the tag you should be assured I'll play fair.

You'll always get morons who'll just put the tag on to bring the idea into disrepute - OwP know it happens but since it's only an idealology it can't be enforced.

Pretty much OwP members will play fair, by the rules and be teamplayers - ok :)

I've spoken to a few [OwP] members since they opened their doors.
Its possibley the biggest mistake they've made.


[Owp] allowed anyone to join simply by signing a form.
It allowed some imposters/players to join and abuse the clan name.
When asked why [OwP] had opened their doors to all to join. The reply came back...."It makes [OwP] more like a real clan"

Its tarnished their name....now i treated any [OwP] player with a pinch of salt.


[96thID] have a similar set of rules...

No tking, no cheating, no abuse.....

They sorta killed themselves by supporting and reinstating 2 players after Jedi/CSguard caught them of 3 different servers.

I like the idea of fair play clans, but its still the server responcibility to ensure fairplay to all its users.
And have a [Tag] doens't ensure anything

Perhaps [OwP] should have kept their membership "invite only" like clans did..many years ago.

Heh - well last night on some server I had a run in with some other OwP players and I've decided that I'll be the same player I always have been just without the tag...since if it means I'll be looked on differently by players then I don't want that - I can kick butt regardless :P

do you really believe that we should "rest assured" that everyone wearing the tag will play fair?
i dont see the tag and think to myself oh hes playing fair, just as i dont think oh hes bound to be a muppet.
i base my opinion on what ive seen on the server.
ive seen plenty of owp members on servers who were no problem at all.
but the problem is that even if you had to sign a form to join, theres no stopping anyone from using the tag anyway.

the whole point of this post is to debate whether it is actually worth wearing the tag, seeing as anyone can wear it it means nothing.
its been proved cheats are wearing the tags by them being banned.

if i go aroung with the tag [L]Briggers[the no1 dod player in the world] it doesnt mean i am.
if vortex used the tag [i am not gh3y] wouldnt mean he isnt :E

basically it means nothing to wear it.
