ive recently got a new pc with xp installed.
however ive just found out that easy cd creator 4 dont work with xp.
now all my cd's i used for backup using Direct CD cant be accessed.
is there a way i can use nero to do the same thing as direct cd?
in case you dont know, direct cd makes it so you can add files to a cd as if it was a harddrive, so instead of closing the cd it keeps it open for more to go on another time.
thanks,

Do you mean using a CD-R or a CD-RW?
Assuming you mean with a CD-RW then yes, Nero has a little spinoff called InCD that does exactly what you describe. Sits in the system tray and lets you format and write (drag and drop) to a CD-RW. You might have it installed already if you have Nero already, but if not then you can download the whole kit and caboodle from Ahead.de (http://www.nero.com/en/incdinfo.htm).

thanks for that.
although direct cd would do it for both CD-R and CD-RW.
anyone know if this works with CD-R too.
Should work with cdr too, it just wont be quite like a hard drive cos you cant delete anything from it ;)
I also had the same problem and had to convert to Direct CD, was a pain but works I guess.
Also I suggest you turn off XP's recording function.
My Computer - right click properties of your CD Writer - Recording Tab - Then deselect enable CD recording on this drive.

Apparently Easy CD does work in XP. The site does have some drivers and instructions but I haven't managed to do it.
Perhaps you can give it a go.

apparently easy cd 5 works with xp, not the previous versions.
(unless youve heard otherwise)
just another ploy by software companies to make you buy the newer version of their product when you wouldnt have done before.
norton av 2001 dont work either, so ive now gotta go out and buy new av software too :(

I have EZCD 5 platinum and even after following the instructions on their site I still can't get it to work. Nuts to it Nero does so up yours to EZCD peeps :cheese
I remember the problems using Easy CD and Win 2k. If you install it and leave it to do a normal install it puts this thing called Go Back on. When you reboot it would totally screw your system up. The only way round it was a reinstall :/
i've recently (about 6 hours ago :) ) installed easycd 5 platinum on an xp machine and it seems to be working ok. burnt 2 discs without problems.
did normal install, but unselected take two (as it says on the site) then installed xp_up.exe, then ecdc_v502d_up.exe, rebooted as prompted in between each and got no probs. just followed the intructions here:
