Server guidelines and faq.

Wireplay currently run 2 DOD servers, both patched to the latest release and both servers are running CS Guard 8.00.

Server rules are as follows:

No deliberate teamkilling.
No deliberate teamwounding.
Friendly Fire is ON!!

No racist or vulgar language
No racist or offensive player names
No message or voice spamming
No spawn camping
NO CHEATING (aimbots, wall hacks, anti-recoil and other scripts)

If you need an admin go to #wpdod using irc on quakenet, and one, if available, will sort any problems out.
The admins decision is final, all bans are reported to the head admin if complaints arise and he can make a decision from there.

Whats the definition of "Vulgar Language"? What is acceptable? and when?

Say its 02:00 in the morning and you accidentallly kill 2 of your team mates with a nade, would it be acceptable to say any naughty words "oh b*****ks" for instance, or do you have to stick to "oh phoeey" at all times of day and night?

vulgar language is what it states..like some bod tk's you and you turn round with a list of expletives so long you cant fit em all on the screen..little common sense is all i ask..2 am in the morning doesnt really matter as theres not too many on..its the early evenings where it should be checked.

If you pop over to http://dod.wireplay.co.uk and check out the Rules page (cunningly hidden under the Sports menu option) you'll find a more exhaustive explanation.

Any Wireplay DoD rule Q's post 'em up and we'll answer them just as soon as we stop laughing and pointing :rolling:

Can we have clarification re RULES for Ladder matches. No spawn camping is a clear WP rule and Ladder rules state (quote)
"For clans the same set of basic server rules apply during matches."
In a ecent match we had spawn camping from start to finish and although it wouldn't have made any difference to overall outcome (a phrase re biting, chewing and being too big springs to mind!) it would be useful to have this clarified for future matches as it might matter then.
During the match Admin was asked several times about this but there was no stated position or action taken.
Please clarify!!!

Ive spoken to mikkk about the situation and have decided, after seeing where peeps were placed on the map that it really wasnt a case of spawn camping.

On the allies round only one way was held, leaving another route open to go, if there had been a sniper or kar in the window covering the beach then that would be classed as spawn camping.

As axis again one route was blocked leaving the other open.
Once again if both routes were locked down something would of been done about it.

We are saying that spawn camping is:

Lobbin grenades into respawn areas
Shooting directly into the respawn area

I hope this is ok and if you have any other gripes contact me and ill try to sort em out.

I've seen this somewhere recently, can't remember where though.
Oh yeah, whilst standing on a beach with an mg in the window firing at me and another guy throwing grenades over the steps.
Oh and I shouldn't forget the guy throwing grens out the door of the other exit from the beach.

Yes yes , that's the one. I remember now.

Hi VictorBean,

I was the Admin and spent the entire game jumping round people watching what they were upto. Obviously I can't be everywhere all the time.

What I saw did not constitute spawn camping ... though on occasion it was very close. Spawn camping is a grey area and not easy to define. We've rephrased the rules to try and clarify the issue.

In matches if an Admin witnesses spawn camping the offending clan will be warned. If spawn camping happens a second time the offending clan will forfeit the match.

We do listen to what players (such as yourself) say, we are always trying to improve the gaming experience on Wireplay. I hope this helps resolve this issue.

Regards,

Mikkk

Cheers Mikk and Bloke for trying to clarify the issue. It does seem a difficult one to pin down. From what u say re blocking all exits and so on Id have to say that there were times when that happened, but I accept u cant be everywhere at once - np.

It seems safe to say that spawn camping does not just mean firing into spawn or even fragging someone in spawn, that it is more than that, involving the deliberate and co-ordinated effort of one team to kill opponents as they respawn and are defenceless, and block all exits to the main game area.

Have I understood u right???

Ta for taking time on this.;)
